Marion in last place is much like this grand opening shot.... disappointing.
That shot above is about as close to starting an Indy movie on a mountainous pile of poo as you can get. Maybe that will be the next logo dissolve?

For me, it's more what a character brings to the role. When I see Willie I see an annoying, whiny, screaming _____ who is one of the major reasons I never can thoroughly enjoy ToD. When I see Marion, it's the exact opposite. I see a stark chemistry that made Raiders work despite the cheesy romance aspect. And the figures would personify that for me.
That and Spalko being the highest. It's like you're in Opposite World™ or something.

Marion is the only female who's a must, imo. All the others I could live with not being made.
I think the only one with an "interesting" costume is Willie (indian gown); but the characters in Indy don't need interesting looks... Indy's look isn't interesting, his fathers? Nope.

I do have to argue that in terms of visually interesting.. Spalko in a Russian uniform, her sunglasses, Tokarev pistol and a Rapier would be cool to display... but still... Marion is just iconic Indy.. gotta have her

Personally I find Spalko's outfit drab, unimaginative, and downright ugly.
Now Marion's white dress? Willie's Club ObiWan dress? Those are attention grabbers that look great.
Not to mention Marion is Indy's girl, his love of his life, his wife, the mother of his child, the daughter of his mentor, and been on more adventures with him then any other woman unless were counting Sophia Hapgood. The day SS announced she wasn't coming was the day it became apparent the license is in the wrong hands.
Willie is her stark contrast, cannot fend for herself, not use to danger, cannot cope.
It was interesting to see these polar opposites and how Indy delt with them.
And then Elsa who will do whatever it takes to suceed no matter who she steamrolls, shes out only for herself. Greedier then Belloq even. But her outfits? Boring.
But annoyances aside, anyone who thinks this wouldn't look stellar done properly needs a catscan.

Now does anyone outside of Neil think that no Willie makes the mine-cart a fail? I'd be fine with just Indy and Shorty in there.

Well i'd prefer for her to be in the mine-cart too, but I don't think her not being there would affect sales or make them lower. People would buy it mostly for Indy and Shorty... I don't think many would mind if she was absent.

SS could just make a 1/6th Yankees cap like Shortie wears and I'd be happy.... I'd wear it on my willie so I could get laughs when i expose myself in public.
I don't think anyone is counting on anything anymore.... We're still very much in pipe dream territory.

Personally I'd like Willie WITH the sacrificial cage-- now that'd be a cool item to pose alongside a 1/6 Mola Ram and a SECOND ToD Indy (trance of the Kali).... That'd be a great exclusive for the Indy, a second hs that has his demonic grin while taken over.
