i'm SO ready for this film. they haven't made a bad Indy yet and I know they'll keep his age in mind during the movie. Harrison is a great actor and will play the role he was made for(along with Han). so what artifact is he looking for in this movie?
The ancient Crystal Skulls of Central America. (look them up... cool stuff)

Think Chariots of The Gods. Late 50's era cold war. Fear of Flying Saucers. Fear of Nukes. Indy vs Russian KGB Agents, etc.

Trust me, the haters will :monkey1

The more I see, the more I am ashamed. Harrison looks terrible. When is Clint Eastwood gonna show up.

Looks fine to me... It makes sense for the character, coming full circle and being almost like Connery was in TLC... but still Indy. I think it will be fine, And Irish... I look forward to seeing the Crow eating contest as well...:lol

I, for one, will eat as much crow as possible if it means getting a good Indy movie!

But, honestly, at this point, I am mostly concerned on story and not Harrison's age. I am pretty excited though. The first shot they showed with Harrison in the Indy gear sitting down...WOW!

Ashamed? Of what? This is getting really pathetic, the way people keep harping on about Ford's age. Welcome to reality. HE IS SIXTY-FIVE YEARS OLD. He looks good for his age. Did you really expect him to still look the way he did 26 years ago?

And BTW, don't you think a 500 KB avatar is a bit extreme?

I'm ashamed that this will be another Phantom Menace. Everything I've seen and heard indicates that it will. Eating crow? Nope. This is a bad idea.

And my avatar complies with the board requirements.

Nope.

Besides, people need to get past their hatred of Lucas and problems with Ford's age and remember who is in the Director's chair. It's the guy who's actually BETTER at his craft now than he was 26 years ago.

Look, it's good to be cautiously optimistic and even outright skeptical and cynical, but some of you guys are bordering on being recalcitrant about this.

Don't be COMPLETELY close-minded about this movie. Especially at this point. You have no idea how it's going to turn out. Luckily, I know enough about it to say with 100% certainty that this is NOT "another Phantom Menace". It could, however, turn out to be another "Rocky Balboa" in how it suprises some folks who previously laughed at the thought of it.

Ford hasn't had a hit movie since... what? Air Force One? That movie sucked. The only post-Indy Ford movie that was any good was The Fugitive.

The Fugitive was nominated for Best Picture, very unusual for an Action flick, best Adapted Screenplay (I believe) and TL Jones won an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor for his Portrayal as Sam Gerard...

It holds up today and Harrison was excellent in it I thought, if you can put up with his awkward "off the shelf" expressions he uses in every film. It was a good film first and foremost because of the great Screenplay IMO.

"Be Good"
- Dr. Kimble

ps AF1 made over 315M WW in '97, not exactly shabby but I get your point.

"if you can put up with his awkward "off the shelf" expressions he uses in every film." This is the most worry for me. Hopefully Speilberg can get Ford back into that 'Indy' character that had scowls, grins, looks of surprise, pain, and that look of genuine enjoyment for the adventure. If Ford acts like in what little of the past decade of roles that I have seen him in, I will be very disappointed with the movie no matter how cool the rest of it turns out. And for goodness sake DO NOT LET GEORGE LUCAS DIRECT ANY OF FORDS SCENES!!!!!!!!!

what about the Tom Clancy movies?

he's great in all his movies, sometimes the movies could be more intertaining but he's always great. IMHO.

Silly me. I'm not nearly as astute as some who've made a decision on the potential quality of this film based on a coupla unofficial photos, so I guess I'll just have to make my judgement on the day I actually see the picture. :monkey1

It works for the story, trust me. Plus, like I said, the flick is set during 1957, when almost every late teen/early 20's suburban white dude was a greaser...

Just to clarify, I realize the film is to be set in the 50's. What concerns me about Shia/greaser is not that his look is inappropriate, it's just something about that style of the period... I've never seen the greaser thing portrayed in any way that wasn't cheesy as heck. I realize the timeline makes sense and all, it's just not the kind of context I can picture Indiana Jones in. I hope that makes sense.

That said, I have complete faith in Spielberg, there will be no crow to eat on my end. Just because I have a few apprehensions doesn't mean I'm not excited about the film. :)

C'mon Andy, you know you love the movie Grease.

I know what you're saying and that was my initial thought. I hope there aren't "greaser gang" fights or crap like that but I put my faith in Spielberg.
