I got this info from the Reels site
It states there could be an Iron Man 3 sooner rather than later, but then it says that might not be the case. Who Knows? I guess it's all down to how well Iron Man 2 performs, and if RDj wants to do other things before a third instalment rather than risk himself being typecast to Tony Stark

With Iron Man 2's May 7 release date getting closer by the day, there's good reason to believe that the sequel will have no problem matching the enormous success of its predecessor, Iron Man, but is Iron Man 3 already gearing up for production? In a recent interview with The Associated Press about the upcoming Due Date, Robert Downey, Jr.'s summer schedule was discussed and included another trip as Tony Stark, a.k.a. Iron Man.
[Zach] Galifianakis said he expects to begin work this fall on the sequel to The Hangover, while Downey said he aims to suit up for a third Iron Man flick. Before anyone gets too excited about this, it would be good to remember that Downey recently dropped out of the comic book adaptation of Cowboys and Aliens so he could be available to shoot Sherlock Holmes 2 this summer. Of course, the shooting date for Sherlock 2 isn't quite nailed down yet, but Jude Law recently revealed to Empire that production on Sherlock 2 is "not like next week but I think it's sometime this year", which means that Downey will need to keep his schedule clear for it.
Further complicating the possible Iron Man 3 shoot is Jon Favreau, who is directing Cowboys and Aliens and directed both Iron Man movies, and is likely a lock to direct Iron Man 3 should Marvel want to pursue it.
Did Downey mean The Avengers and not Iron Man 3? Probably not. With Thor currently in production and The First Avenger: Captain America starting production this summer, it's unlikely that The Avengers will start production until next year.
So is Downey going to actually shoot Iron Man 3? Let's hope so. Just maybe not this year.

Downey loves characters not exactly jobs. That is why he is clearing his schedule for Sherlock Holmes, he has said he loves playing Tony Stark as well so I don't think that will be the problem but I realistically don't expect an IM3 until after The Avengers. I read on other sites that to keep the stars happy and available that parts and pieces of The Avengers might be shot concurrently with other films keeping the need for all actors to be on set with each other at a minimum and therefore easier to schedule. I have a feeling that Downey will be back for IM3 and his statements simply were to indicate he'd like to do it sooner than later. Who knows though maybe if they have a storyline all set up they could fasttrack it.

As for Favreau he isn't as much of a lynchpin as Reel would like to think as many franchises have ditched their director over schedulings. It'd be nice to have him back but I don't think its a dealbreaker. Not to mention that Downey has no fears about being typecasted, his career was well diversified before Iron Man and will be after, he isn't exactly sitting on his laurels as he has done four projects in between Iron Man 1 and 2 and three projects set after.

Lots of Iron Man 2 News!!

Spoilers:
And finally, Splashpage.mtv scored an early copy of the novelization by Alexander Irvine and list some new information that may or may not be in the movie. Typically, the novelization will go deeper into the story or change things completely to work with the novel, but they do reveal some new gadgets, armor and villains so far unheard of.

So possible SPOILER alerts on this, people. Here’s their summary of the book:

COOL GADGETS: Beyond the briefcase armor and his new Mark VI suit, Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) has some other flashy products to show off over the course of "Iron Man 2," including a device called the Tech-Ball, "a small sphere that [can] alter the properties of its matter on command." There is also a new set of armor featured in the novel that hasn’t been seen in the film’s trailers just yet — and I wouldn’t assume that it belongs to Tony or James "Rhodey" Rhodes (Don Cheadle).

ROLL CALL: "Iron Man 2" sports several new faces including Whiplash (Mickey Rourke) and Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), but there are also some old characters with upgraded screen time. Samuel L. Jackson returns as Nick Fury midway into the story to provide a reality check for an off-the-rails Tony. Director Jon Favreau’s Happy Hogan is much more than window dressing this time around, finding himself at the center of at least two action scenes. Gwyneth Paltrow has plenty to do as Pepper Potts, thanks to a new role within Stark Industries.

BAD TO THE BONE: Whiplash and Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell) are the principle antagonists of "Iron Man 2," finding common ground with one another in the form of their mutual loathing of Tony Stark. Both characters, Whiplash especially, have plenty of scenery to chew on, so it should be wonderful to watch Rourke and Rockwell bring these guys to life. But they aren’t the only villains featured in the film, as the mysterious Ten Rings organization resurfaces — and a certain Mongolian is mentioned, as well.

POWER BREEDS SICKNESS: As footage from the trailer indicates, Tony’s seen healthier days. He doesn’t need a doctor to tell him that sickly purple veins stemming out from the arc reactor embedded in his chest are bad signs, so correcting that life-or-death ailment is a top priority of Stark and his robot sidekick Jarvis throughout the course of "Iron Man 2." Whether he succeeds in curing himself, we cannot say — but no matter how it shakes out, let’s just say the road to recovery won’t be easy.

PARTY HARD: That’s not to say that Stark can’t still party, however, as he throws himself a birthday extravaganza that could go down in cinema history as the craziest, most action-packed birthday bash of all time. That’s all thanks to Tony’s own recklessness, more than a few drunk youths and plenty of Iron Man technology — not to mention one very angry friend of Stark’s.

TONY & RHODEY’S EXCELLENT ADVENTURE: The most important thing that we gleaned from reading the "Iron Man 2" novel is this — the movie is going to be awesome. Despite having a wealth of new characters, the story is firmly rooted in Tony’s plight. The other faces are hardly pushed to the side, however, as each character is fully serviced with plenty of cool scenes to enjoy. The action sequences are ambitious, particularly one involving Iron Man and a literally unstoppable War Machine. The humor is exactly what you would hope for based on Robert Downey Jr.’s past dynamics with his cast members.

There it is. Take it or leave it, I can’t wait for this movie. May 7th is just around the corner, but still seems so far away.

All right, any casting suggestions for The Mandarin in the third Iron Man movie? Any other characters you’d like to see brought to life from the Iron Man universe?

Curvy as she is, I don't know what it is but I don't get that feeling of intimidation from her whenever I see her in promo materials or trailers. She doesn't look dangerous to me.

Even pissed off looking, which she seems to be in some photos and clips, she still has a cute quality to her. Maybe she's not trying enough or could be that he face just doesn't convey aggression as much as others, but I agree, so far she hasn't been seen in a way that makes you think if you ran into her, she's going to ruin your day.

Lower right corner....stamped right there. Its probably part of the swagbag you'll get from attending.
