I sent an e-mail to my vendor and am waiting for his response. Hopefully it's enough for SS to justify a replacement. I personally don't think it should come like that from the factory. Especially on the face. It is a great piece, but the paint quality just doesn't match the price.

I already contacted Alterego and attached the pictures. I don't know how the hell this got through Sideshow's QC because it is really, really obvious. For a near $500 statue, I shouldn't be seeing any blemishes let alone blatant, crap brushstrokes. The demo they had at SDCC sure as heck didn't have an ugly chin.

Your blemishes look like they are on the side of the face as well as the chin. Mine is contained underneath the mouth. If you don't mind, please keep us posted. I agree that there shouldn't be any blatant blemishes for an almost $500 statue.

That's exactly what I noticed on my piece as well. I'm not sure if I should contact my vendor or just accept it. Here are some pics.

What do you guys suggest? This is my first SS piece that I have purchased new and I don't know what is considered "acceptable".

Don't except anything but a clean replacement. U payed top dollar for this like everyone else here. I hope mine does not arrive like this or else I'm going straight to ss. They are only 30 min driving distance.

Such a nice IM to have such wacky flaw. I can understand some area have slight battle wear n tear but man, that chin is aweful.

Been return many unhappy products to sideshow and never once disappointed with the service and also get the perfect replacement everytime. So, i have no worries about my IM been on the way to my place.

So what happens to all the pieces that are returned? Is this the stock that they find later on? Are they repainted or touched up and sold as new or left as is and sold to someone on the wait list with no replacement available?

Gets sold later as the exclusive battle damage variant.

I'm joking by the way.

I hope mine arrives in excellent condition, cause I used about $300 reward points on him.

They are sold to europeans that will have more difficulty returning it ;)

Just received the exclusive today. This is the best Iron Man statue ever!!!

A few pictures...enjoy.

Batman, how is the gold paint on your Ironman's chin? Does he have the sloppy, gold brush lines like the other maquettes received so far? (see pictures from myself and other members) It looks like it from a distance on your pictures, but I can't tell for sure.

The paint on my Ironman's chin is horrible and the bad paint scuffs on the side of his face are so deep you can see the polystone beneath. I contacted Alterego and they told me that they will contact Sideshow for a replacement, but this sounds like it may be widespread. I fear I will just get a replacement with the same crappy paint job.

What I am thinking is that the gold mask is a separate piece from the gold chin, so they just brush painted the chin instead of airbrushing it. If that is true, then it is very possible that every maquette will have an ungly chin...I know the maquette shown at SDCC didn't have a brush painted chin.

The gold paint on the chin is not on par with with the gold paint on the rest of the face. I also have the gold brush lines but not too bad and only visible from a certain angle.

 For a $500 statue, there should not be any brush lines. This is 3/3 statues that have the brushlines on the chin...why can't Sideshow seem to get the paint apps right on Ironman?

I went to pick mine up today and I had to go through 3 of them and they were all bad.

Had to ask the store to return it and I gotta wait for a replacement piece.

Hopefully this time it won't be too bad or otherwise I have to cancel mine.

Such a disapointing QC on such a nice piece.

$100 paint job on a $300 statue that cost $500
Paying an extra $200 for the piece due to the Legacy name. QC should be much better.
