Especially in comparison to the prototype.

I have put a deposit on this, but I just might move it over to the Hot Toys Hulkbuster and Hulk deluxe versions. Cost me about the same, and say what you want about Hot Toys, but their paint jobs are consistantly good.

I have the Mark 6 legendary bust. And that paint job was anything but consistent. Wanted to have the chest plate replaced for a noticiable nick on the arc reactor plate. Got my replacement. Was happy, as there was no nick/mark etc.

That was until I put it on the bust, and guess what. The shade of red paint was different!

Ended up returning the replacement.

so they waited all this time to show that the arc reactor, on a $1k piece is blank once again? They put detail into War Machine, but not this one. That makes no sense. Smh once again.

Hmmm...errr I don't about these new pics. I didn't like iron man 3 very much but I ordered on a double points offer because I absolutely loved the brush metal look and hydraulic piece in the arm. The new pics seem to lose that effect and create the plastic look that has bothered me before. I returned the sauron pf because of a similar feeling. I hope to see more pics soon. I agree as well that I would really really like an arc reactor in there. Give me that and it's easy to overlook the brushed metal effects

The Mk 6 bust came with an upside down arc reactor :lol but at least they bothered designing it on that piece. Seems like a poor decision was made to skip the arc reactor again entirely on a $1,000 bust considering it's front and center on the piece and trademark of the character.

Well this is my first post!! i was super excited for this bust but good thing i held back... I've always kept an eye on the Iron man busts/Maquettes but they've been letting me down.. I loved the brush metal on this piece and now that it's been excluded its a real shame.. The paint app seems pretty horrendous and the surface as all bumpy... im just judging by the photos posted... Anyways skipping details in the arc reactor is also one of the biggest problems i have i was hoping they would do some detail in that part as its such an iconic area for ironman... Sideshow continues to let me down... im looking at the 1/4 Mark2 im pretty sure it will end up the same with a dull crappy looking silver paint app.. no other company other than KingArts and Hot toys can do a better job on ironman... again i must say im really sad that this piece turned out the way it did... R.I.P my dreams of owning a 1/1 scale bust

Edit: And asking for such a price they should have atleast tried... to make it look like the prototype...

These pics are not on the ss website so I wouldn't freak yet. I'm sure someone at ss saw them and is trying to figure out how to approach this for better or worse

They altered the product page as well. Those nice shiny metal bits are nowhere to be found, it looks 'dull' to me.

Oh...when I commented they hadn't updated the website but now they have...

Call me a sucker...time to freak out.

Let's play spot the differences...

Sideshow seriously need to stop promising items they can't deliver.

Damn shame, I completely expected this but still very disappointed. A bust that matched the proto would be the grail of my collection. I would pay at most a few hundred for this thing if only for the fact that it would need to be completely stripped, sanded and repainted. :(

Lumpy, paint swirls, colors are off, finish is reeeealy off. I am amazed that this one is the show piece they are taking photos of. You know what this looks like- a really well made cake. Like one of those insane cakes the pros make on TV out of fondant? They are quite amazing but they are still a bit soft and uneven looking, the edges are all blunt and rounded off, lines are a bit curved, colors are in the neighborhood but are really just an approximation. It'd be impressive if it were made of cake. A $1000 collectible statue, not even close...

So the metallic proto that was pictured when pre orders opened has vanished completely?

Yes, as predicted by many here when they first announced this bust.

I think this maybe another bait and switch promo shot. If you look at the promo images of the mark VII bust the paint looks semi-gloss with the metal parts looking like brushed aluminum. In the final production piece it was the same old drab and dull paint which looked more like a store mannequin than Ironman armour.

They aren't going to get that paint in the final product, people should let the hype down when anything new is shown.

Don't do it, the quality on these has dropped with every release. Theres no way in hell Sideshow will get the final product paint to look anywhere close to those preview pics.

Wan to preorder but feels TGTBT.

Might cancel this. The ****** exchange rate and shipping cost would take the overall total to around $1500 Aussie dollars, and based on those pictures it isn't worth it.

The double rewards influenced me to order it, but I should have waited for pics. :slap

if I really wanted I could let the metallic brushing go but I cant look past the lumpiness both on the front and back. Whats up with that. So disappointed, worst part is going to lose a hefty NRD. :gah:
