Iron Studios 1/4 scale Spiderman

Iron Studios has definitely been putting out some nice statues recently.
My primary issue with this statue is that spiderman is like 1/3 of the overall piece. The environment around him is too busy and distracting, while the actual character looks small in comparison, and almost gets lost in all the commotion. I think the SS Spiderman (paint issues aside) is superior in that the character is the center piece and pops. Would be interesting to see the two side by side.

Oh, believe me ...that's been said by a lot of collectors. But art is subjective ...and there are collectors that still like this piece.
I agree with you, tho. It is too busy for me. And I do like the SSC version better. My preference, obviously. Funny thing, even though I already have the SSC Spidey, I still can't wait to see the XM version.

I think both are great for different reasons, but I definitely like this one for the same reasons some don't. That's also why I have been so grabbed by XM. I just love these intricate bases. Of course, until I have this Spidey in hand, I will reserve judgement. I am super excited for it, though.

I think this looks great. Not necessarily better then the Sideshow piece, as that is easily the most dynamic piece in my collection. Just a different way of showing him in all his glory.
I've was lucky enough to get a 'good' Spider-Man Sideshow piece, and I can't wait to display this IS statue in my collection.

Are there any more comic pieces lined up from Iron Studios? Seems strange that this is it. This is the only one there's been so far in 1:4?

This is the first. I think it has alot to do with the fact that it is a Brazilian company and they are paying homage to Mike Deodato's art. I also hope it paves the way for more dynamic based comic statues in the future.

This 100%. Although I do enjoy a the character/statue being the main focus I can't also help but love a good base as well. Now that SSC sells IS hopefully they'll produce more.

Dude honestly. . . Like I have over 50 Sideshow pieces most of them are PFs. And this statue looks like it'll be my favorite statue I own or that's even been released. Like as long as it doesn't come broken of course or painted really badly. I like it more than the XM Magneto. The old Hulk PF, old Doctor Doom PF, Venom Comiquette. I like it more than EVERYTHING!!! So way excited to see what more comic related pieces they have coming out.
Could be a statue of the year contender! I do like it more than the sideshow PF just released which is bloody good also. But this base is amazing! People can ***** about too much going on. But I think the attention wasn't solely for just spidy alone! It's like a comic strip in 3D. I get were the artist was going with this piece!

Yeah exactly. When reading through a well drawn comic book there's gonna be real dynamic epically drawn backgrounds and environments. You can't possibly have too much going on a statue in my opinion. As long as the costume design isn't something they just make up adding all kinds of things to it for no reason. The base can't possibly be "too busy" to me.
