**** the MCU. After the 2 hour trailer that was Iron Man 2, this needed to be a Stark centric film, not littered with nods to his pals.

Hopefully the rest of phase 2 will be good and RDJ is back for Avengers 2, then I can pretend Iron Man 3 never existed. It's a good film, it's just not an Iron Man film.

You knew Killian would be a villain but more a Justin Hammer side villain and not the big bad. Can't say that Trevor wasn't funny as hell but he wasn't right for an Iron
Man movie.

I don't get how people got really pissed at how Green Goblin wasn't in a more accurate costume, how Dr Doom wasn't done correct but accept that The Mandarin was turned into a joke and adapted much worse than those.

Yeah i could tell he was going to be a villain of some sorts, just not the main villain as i said he gives off that typical villain vibe. I and like everyone esle thought Ben kingsley was going to be the main villain thanks to the trailers but i enjoyed the twist.

Maybe HT is reconsidering whether they should come out with 15 figures as stated from the movie now, especially those suits which don't even get at least 3 seconds of screen time.

Gonna re-post what I said in the Mandarin thread:

For anyone who has seen the movie but felt a bit disappointed, think of it this way.... they pulled another Ra's Al Ghul on us (kind of ironic considering how both Ra's and Mandarin are based on the same Fu Manchu stereotype too.) In that regard, I don't mind what they did with the revelation that Killian was the real Mandarin with the Extremis virus acting as the explanation for his powers (fire-breathing capabilities with dragon tattoos on his chest and whatnot.) The only reason why it probably feels like a cop-out is because Trevor's image as "The Mandarin" wasn't so much a decoy (like Ken Watanabe's Ra's Al Ghul to Liam Neeson's Ducard) as he was just an exaggerated front for the REAL Mandarin who happens to be Killian himself.

In that regard, I'm definitely curious if Hot Toys will re-consider their strategy and make a figure of Killian as the REAL Mandarin from the film (complete with glowing body and dragon tattoos and all).

Horrible film, saw it yesterday. The things Downey did without his suit, as well as Rhodes, were beyond James Bond rediculous.

The only interesting villain was butchered for a few giggles. ( I giggled, I must admit, but only because Kingsley is such an amazing actor and actually pulled it off. )

Blegh, not going to buying any figures from this film. Especially not mark 42, the most useless Mark ever lol.

This film tried too hard to be a comedy. They even used the good old "lets hire a cute kid that's a smartass" for giggles.

At the end of the gig, my mate and I who love marvel and dc just looked at eachother with an empty glare.

But was Killian really the real mandarin..? Maybe he was a decoy for.. the REAL mandarin.. :lol

I desperatly hope Kingsley was actually acting to be an actor. Killian was no villain. He was not threatening in ANY way. Also, I hated the whole "plot" of this film with people exploding to 3000 degrees.. -_- They need to fire the writer.

Personally I give Guy Pearce as Killian some credit (aka the real "Mandarin") as I thought he was far more interesting than Whiplash in Iron Man 2. :dunno

Also I don't know about anyone else, but the moment I saw powered-up Killian being shirtless while duking it out with Stark, all I saw was this:

It's hard that the co-writer is the director as well, They should really consult people with some scientific background (Avengers did)

If this was like Batman Begins then Killain would've bee sold as the Mandarin and The Mandarin would've been revealed to be the real Mandarin. they did the opposite.

Kinglsey has the Mandarin look (just like Ducard had) so he was the Mandarin... that got screwed in the script which gave the villain lead and characteristics to Killain.

Agreed with these, the MK42 was explained as a Proto but still he dind't hae any function weapons other than the repulsors and it got trashed for half the movie.

And there was too much Comedy.

Its an Iron Men film. :lecture

It's a Christmas fireworks film... (Fireworks) contained in exploding Men, Women & Iron Men.

:rotfl :rotfl :rotfl

I though the same, maybe there wasn't a real Mandarin until Killian yelled "I am the Mandarin!" and well.. yeah that changes everything :lol besides the representation of Killian in the movie was just like the Mandarin

Well, we saw the Mark XLII have missiles in the forearm, remember the house attack? but thats about it .. too bad, I still wish HT at least add the forearm missiles

What probably happened is that some point in the past few months Hot Toys had a discussion with Marvel films asking what Armors were featured in the movie. Marvel gave them a list and images, and Hot Toys decided to just roll with it, not realizing that some of the Armors were only in the film for under a minute.

This is probably dead on. HT has a history of this (remember for TDK when they worked off of promo pics for The Joker and it lead to that ****storm for the figure once the figure was released as one example?) and given that Iron Man was such a surefire seller they figured these would sell with no problem.

I haven't seen the film yet but the reality is that if an armor isn't fully featured there isn't much of a need to get it from casual fans and even diehard IM fans like myself are being over-saturated with product to the point of not being able to keep up.

I have a feeling you'll see 42 and Patriot selling well but probably not any recordbreaking moves and the rest rotting which will most likely lead to HT taking a step back from this property in general.

It most likely have no bearing on their diecast line since they'll probably go back and redo many of the older armors but I think that we won't even get the majority of the side armors in the plans originally. HT made it seem as if they were going to provide an extensive armory but I think that we won't see even half of that business strategy once people figure out how much time things are actually there and whether things actually represent the film itself.

The irony is if HT had offered these armors a few months ago when the promotions of the film began they'd have probably sold all without blinking but now that the film is coming out and they are seen more as scenery than anything else it won't translate.

There has been nothing but Iron Man from HT for 3 months now.

3 months!

While watching the film I was thinking 'it'd be cool if HT made Savin and Killiandarin given HT's history with Iron Man.'

Hope they do.
