is a Root canal Worth?or better remove

I was searching around and some people say that root canals break later on and the tooth has to be removed anyways,
My tooth is hurting really bad, Dentist said, Root Canal or removal,
I guess the Root Canal is better because you are saving the tooth but a lot of people are saying is not worth the trouble, plus is not cheap

I had one just over a year ago. I didn't mind it. I got it capped afterward. Removing a tooth might give you problems later if the other teeth move.

It would depend on your age, your insurance, etc. My root canal cost $950 and my cap was just about the same.

I never heard of a root canal "breaking". If they fail later, they can just do them over.

I've only had my wisdom teeth removed. Never had to deal with the decision of a straight up removal or a root canal.

If I were you, I'd go with the root canal. Keep your teeth.

It's someone's opinion. Just do your research. That's what I did and I decided to get one.

I have had a couple done myself. If you are worried about the pain aspect, don't be. After the you get numbed you really don't feel anything. The whole procedure will take about 45-1hr depending on which tooth it is (sorry didnt read the whole thread). The only partially painful thing is having your jaw wide open for a long time. After the procedure is done I would suggest popping a few advil. Your jaw will throb a bit that night, but advil will take care of most of it for you.

As others have said, if you get the root canal, get the crown. I was an idiot and did not. My first root canal ended up breaking to the point that it had to be extracted (which is no walk in the park either). Costly, yes, thankfully my insurance combined with my wife's covered it. I don't know your situation, but hopefully you have some sort of insurance.

Endodontist do specialize in it, but if you have a good dentist they can do it too, and usually cheaper. My first one I went to a specialist, but the last two my normal dentist did and she did a good job.

I had a tooth out a few months back. Wasn't that painful as it was just a leftover baby tooth, but putting in a permanent replacement was a seriously painful proceedure. Essentially they nailed the thing through the gums and into the jaw.
Id say keep the tooth if you have the option. You aren't saving yourself any pain by taking it out.

i had two back molars bottom jaw removed, over an hour of fun with a dentist literally with a foot on my chest trying to break em out .......guy nearly broke my jaw for a good 6 months was spitting out bits of jaw bone........good luck lolz

Hi. I just wanted to chime in. Which tooth is it? Honestly it is almost advisable to restore a tooth rather than remove it. Removal can cause teeth to shift and it could cause problems with your bite due to teeth drifting and supra-erupting. However if you can't afford it then just have the tooth extracted. Root canals are relatively painless unless there is infection. If that is the case then I would place you on an antibiotic and perform the procedure in 7 to 10 days. Is the pain spontaneous? Does it keep you up at night?

Good advice here. You can PM me if you have any questions or concerns.
But a tooth with a root canal can fracture, it is dependent on many factors. For example, how much of the crown is actually left after preparation/caries removal.

Accurate price . But an implant isn't always the best option either. Again certain areas of the mouth have better success rates (varying as much as 80 to 96 percent) than others and a root canal is both cheaper and may have a higher success rate depending on its location. However I am a firm believer that they are a great option for tooth replacement.
