Sideshow thinning out their 1:6 lines is nothing new. I remember Dave calling that one 2 years ago.

I was kind of hopeful though when we got some oddball 1/6 announcements like Shaun of the Dead and Reservoir Dogs. But, those didn't really deliver for a lot of people (although I still like Shaun and Ed) and were bad sellers... so that might be the end of the small liscense figures.

Heck, we never even saw Darkman in 1/6 they had the license for. Although with Godfather and HBII being shared with HT I guess its possible more stuff will be done by them.

Dropping balls is a normal occurrence for those entering puberty. :lecture

:lol True. But then, when it comes to 1:6 figures Sideshow should be entering middle-age, not puberty. It's just not in their wheelhouse these days at all. For every homerun figure, there are 3-4 misses.

I'll have to agree with you OP. Used to be when I looked forward to Thursdays to see the newsletter, now I could care less. I know one persons junk is anothers treasure, but for me, some of the licenses they have pursued and are pursuing mystifies me.

SOme of you probably loved the SOTD figs. No disrespect intended, but I thought they were a dumb idea to start with. Same with Reservoir Dogs to which when I found out were being released, commented in the thread about what a waste of resources. I feel the same way about the Disney crap they are pushing. I mean come on Sideshow, Disney?

Every 3 months or so, somebody posts a thread like this one...
I've noticed that since I joined in 2006, almost 3 years later, SS still releases
things I'd like to have, and cannot afford!!!
So, to answer your question... nope... I don't think so...
of course I'd love to see certain characters, but I'd rather get one piece every month that I really want, than go broke...
well, I'm already broke as it is anyways....:lol:lol

Yeah, SSC still releases more stuff than I can afford, but rising prices together with the uncertainty of the economy, I'm also finding it easier to pass on and cancel figures that 2 years ago and at $60 I would have bought no questions asked.

Basically what this thread translates as: Sideshow is putting out things not to Atheris666's taste. Therefore Sideshow releases are getting boring. :lol

Sorry but this thread = FAIL.

:wave

Great post! Blah is in the eye of the collector. Some people's gold is others' blah.

I do think its arguable that while its someone's personal opinion, there may be evidence by the number of recent complaints, cancellations, "PASS" comments (especially by people around here I always considered diehards) that the sentiment is not isolated.

Even some of us within this thread deriding the thread would have to some degree admit that say, the cancelation of LOTR, has made SSC a little more "blah" than they would have been had they not cancelled it....yes?

I have to agree. I have yet to be bored by their releases.

IMO it is not just Sideshow ... HT and Medicom also ...

Why is Sideshow giving us lame Star Wars Characters, when there still is no Scout Trooper, no Snow Trooper, no c3po and r2d2 for example ?
Why wasn´t the new Jason of Friday the 13th announced ?
Will there ever be one ?

Why is Hot Toys bringing us at least 3 Spirit Figs but only 2 Hellboy Characters ? Where is Liz, Johann or Prince Nuala ?

Sure a lot of you guys like POTA but I don´t ... I will not spend a single Cent on them.

Medicom releases many lame and overpriced Figs. Why did they release the Emperor's Royal Guard ? The RAH body is so useless with this Fig.

Why are there still no Underworld sixth scale Figs ?

Crap ... I should be thankful that my taste is obviously not like the majority. That saves me Money ...

This is my Opinion, so please take it as it is. No need to flame on me ...

I really think Sideshow is fine and not anything close to "blahh" They DO need to take their paint apps a bit more serious cuz they have some very talented sculpters. Paint is everything imo, other than that I really don't see anything else lacking.

Forget the paint apps. It's the poor tailoring and ill body proportions that keep me from buying. The prometheus body did not help things either.

I've found myself being diapointed with some of there new stuff lately. I don't know if it's because we're being spoiled by how great ht is or is ss is losing it but that Vito Corleone bust put a final stamp on my disapointment from them.

Read again my friend, I didn’t specifically say SS don’t make ANYTHING I like....I said they haven’t put anything out worth going after hence the term "blah". I used the 1:1 IM bust and Godfather bust as examples (what’s a statement without an example). I’m a hardcore Godfather, Hellboy, Iron man, Hulk, Aliens (ect ect) NUT with the rest of them. What I’m saying is..even with the lines they own and produce they are still very blah (which makes me and others NOT want to have them). The 1:1 Hellboy bust for example, I jumped on that as soon as it came out....I looked at it a little more...then after about 5 minutes I was already board with it. It’s just him sitting there with a straight face, no character, no emotion....nothing!....that’s worth $500???
Then we have the Godfather bust...which for some reason looks like Jon Voight when he was regurgitated by the snake in "Anaconda".....worth $500??
SS show defiantly has lines I like, but they ruin them...or produce them till no end (how many versions of predator or Alien does one need?).
Its not just me SS isn’t pleasing, read the many many many threads with people dissatisfied with what SS HASNT produced...or on the flip side...what they have produced but with very poor quality. All of these things I summed up with the word "blah"....follow me?

Chris

That complaining and cancellation talk happens all the time... doesn't seem anymore than other times.
