Remake is being made. Jose Padilha is directing. Might wanna do your homework before a big rant.

the remake isn't happening since Aronofsky left. and we'll get a DX robo when a Robocop movie makes a $billion+ in the boxoffice and/or has Batman, MJ, or Bruce Lee in it. HT doesn't make DX figures for newbies who missed out on the original figures. and there aren't enough collectors who give a ____ about Robocop now for HT to justify licensing, sculpting, painting, assembling, marketing, packaging, and shipping an expensive figure like that.

and besides, Weller is never going to license his likeness to anybody, so there really isn't any point in having an unmasked figure. HT is not Santa's workshop, how many of these pie-in-the-sky topics are gonna get posted here?

:goodpost: AMEN to that. :clap

I rarely do a multipost of the same post, and rarely care about people's rants on a toy forum, but I thought this deserved one.

As mentioned, it is still being done. The new director was even interviewed this month about the progress of the film.

Actually, from Hot Toys's track record, in particular with their Batman figures, they only make DX figures for seasoned collectors who have supported them through all their releases and hence get screwed when they release an updated figure of something that they released less than a year before. For those seasoned collectors who already own Hot toys's 3 previous Joker figures and Dark Knight figures, those figures are down to clearance prices now that there are DX versions of them out.

and there aren't enough collectors who give a ____ about Robocop now for HT to justify licensing, sculpting, painting, assembling, marketing, packaging, and shipping an expensive figure like that.

You realize that they have already made 3 Robocop figures and 2 ED-209 figures right? And they are all sold-out, and are demanding quite high secondary market prices, in particular the first Robo and ED-209. That's a fair number of figures from a movie that collectors don't give a ___ about.

and besides, Weller is never going to license his likeness to anybody, so there really isn't any point in having an unmasked figure.

His likeness is currently being licensed to Fred Barton productions for a 1:1 scale statue, 1:1 bust, and 1/4 scale statue, and is being fully approved by MGM. As for an unmasked version, personally I wouldn't care for one, but with MGM wanting to rejuvenate the license (hence contacting Fred Barton), anything is possible. Here is a pic final production pic of the bust.

Did you wake up on the wrong side of the bed? Is it the end of the world that someone posted a thread like this? Anger management maybe?

:goodpost: AMEN to that. :clap

You have a whopping 11 posts and you are saying AMEN to prefused's post????

Ha ha. I was also baffled as to why smeone with such a small amount of posts would say that.

I watched the movie yesterday because I hadn't seen it for a few weeks. Still love it. Its brutal and often funny and I love the design of Robo. DX needs to be made. And soon.

Yeah gotta say, much as I respect your posts generally, I've noticed you sing a different tune when the topic is remakes of older HT predators. I know you're not the one initiating those topics but you do chime in and say that you don't care about keeping current figure owners on their exclusive perch - that you'd be all over remakes of certain figures. So whats wrong with people looking for a remake of Robocop other than some bias against that character you seem to have?

Others have argued to the popularity of Robocop, the movie remake and the Weller likeness so I won't go there.
