I need your opinion. I?m working on an Ackbar figure and I?m quite surprised how well the Hasbro outfit can look with a bit of work. I thought that I had to redo most of it, but now I doubt that I can make it look much better than it already is.
So, I got this expensive head sculpt that I was preparing to paint, but then I tried out the Hasbro head and it just sits so well on the body. Not as much detail and less accurate, but it feels kind of right...
So what do you guys think when looking at the pictures. Should I finish painting the custom sculpt or repaint the Hasbro for this?

of course with the hasbro head you can pop out the eyes and use those doll eyes to replace the ones on the hasbro. i did that mod some years ago i forget what there called a fellow member on here did it some time ago have to look over the custom thread section to remember the those taxidermy type eyes i think they were called

Slik those pilots and Ackbar look awesome! I'm not too savvy on the Hasbro Ackbar figure, which pic is the custom and which is the Hasbro? I think the bigger head looks better.

You're doing a great job! It's hard to tell in the pics but I think the eyes look great from what I can see!
Where did you get the custom? I need to get myself a Hasbro and mod it. you're right- the clothes do look good!

Oh, now I?m not sure which one you meant with the bigger one. The custom is the one with the all black eyes (since I didn?t paint them yet) and the Hasbro has the dolls eyes.
The custom I got on eBay a long time ago. I?ve seen them pop up sometimes. But if the one you like best is the Hasbro, then we?ll, all you need is the Hasbro, a knock off narrow body, some shoes and some wire.

Thanks! I'm going to have to do that. And my bad, I was confused which one was which. I do think the Hasbro profile looks more accurate to Ackbar. Is that the normal paint job on the Hasbro one or did you paint that?

Yes, normal paint job. Only glossed the eyes up a bit.

He looks a little dark, I'm sure you could make it look even better with a custom paint job! They both look great though. Does the Hasbro have the realistic doll eyes or are they just painted?

Also I think an Aftab Ackbar from TROS would look awesome!! I love his character design.

Yes, the Hasbro has the doll eyes. And yes he?s a bit dark, so a repaint would definitely be a good idea.
And yes, Aftab looks insanely awesome!

I think that custom Ackbar thread was removed. I?d love to know which replacement eyes were used. A google search doesn?t help...
