Well, things can be worded where it comes across as they're stating fact or their opinion as fact. That's what I'm talking about.

Care to explain what the  is for, Josh?

Because that's harder for me to decipher than somebody expressing an opinion without having to state "I think that..."

I can remember one of the first things drilled into our heads in college: Don't write "I think", etc. in your term papers because it's understood that the author is writing their opinion unless specifically singled out as fact. I even imparted that to my classes when student teaching.

Yeah, your closed-mindedness.

My minds open to other products. I buy medicoms stuff. I like them quite a bit actually but "I" feel SS is the best. How come I have to accept that someone is better when "I" don't feel that way? Doing so would make me more open minded?

Don't like what I post or my closed mindedness then put me on ignore and it will be like I was never here. :)

Good idea. I'll add you to the list with the Douchecollector.

Cause I felt like my point of opinion vs stating opinion as fact was being lost. :)

Simple enough for ya. :)

Okay,I want to hear it...WHY do you feel Sideshow figures are the best? I'm not trying to pick at anything here because I disagree with you but I do want to hear what your reasoning is behind why you think Sideshow figures are the best?

I'm not looking for a fight but I'm not gonna back down from posting my opinion either. If people honestly don't like "mine" all that much I have no issues with someone slapping me on ignore. :)

Well I'm not looking for a fight either and I never specifically mentioned you. I was referring to more than a few members. But since you've decided to "step forward" so to speak, then yeah you're one of them in this matter. Not the only one, but one of them nevertheless.

That's cool if you have your own opinion. I can respect that, and I'm certainly not asking you to refrain from expressing it. But you can take it to too personal of a level at times. An example:

That was certainly uncalled for. You gave me a "rolling eyes" where I felt it wasn't warranted, and I wanted clarification. You answered me, but you just had to throw in that extra dig...

As far as the ignore option, I personally don't believe in using it because I feel I'm censoring and "tuning out" the other person in too broad of a scope. So I'll never put anyone on an "ignore" list.

And now for an obligatory plea...

Out of consideration for those members who might still be reading this thread looking for constructive dialogue, can we please drop all of these high school dramatics (and what the heck, I'll throw myself in there too...) and get back to some civilized conversation without arguing the semantics of phrasing opinions, name calling, sarcastic emoticons, etc. etc. etc.??????

I think they're likenesses are the best around. They have their hits and misses but way more hits than misses. The detail in the items are just freaking cool. IMO it's like the littlest things are not overlooked. The outfits outside of a few are pretty darn good. For the money I feel like my needs are totally being met and then some.

I may at times. I can't deny that.

As far as the quote you used. I was being a smart ass. Poking a little fun at the situation. Sorry :duff

Now that's something I can seriously agree with you on. Choice of expression aside, Luke (and BTW these are all 1/6 examples) looks remarkably like Mark Hamill. Anakin looks great in natural lighting. Maul...well, that one speaks for itself.

The non-SW stuff is great too. Connor and Duncan are dead ringers for Lambert and Paul, and Springwood Slasher Krueger is dead-on accurate too.

But...if Medicom's future offerings are as good as Jango, then SSC's monopoly on nailing likenesses is in jeopardy.

My biggest problem with Sideshow is the Buck body. It was fantastic when all I had were Sideshow figures, but now that I have a Medicom Stormtrooper...I can see the shortcomings. The Stormtrooper holds more natural poses. The proportions look more correct. The biggest thing for me is the stability issue. The Medi is the only figure not needing a stand, and it's next to my printer, which shakes the shelf every time I print. The figure hasn't fallen once!! :)

Fair enough. I'm sure you can understand how it was misconstrued given the general tone of the past few pages.

I agree Medicom's likeness on Jango is very nice and if Medicom can keep this up should make for a nice horse race between the two.

Oh yeah I understand for sure. Again, it was on me that my joke went over like Rosie on a diet. :lol

Okay that was a little less of a response and reasoning than I expected but that's cool. I thought you would perhaps get into their license selection and how you prefer them but I can see that you seem to be a big Star Wars fan so I can understand some bias because of that...

I suppose I could say that you would be singing a different tune if Hot Toys or Medicom had the SW 1:6 figure license to themselves?

What I am also seeing from your reply is that it is also a money thing, which is understandable when you compare their prices to those of Medicom's and Hot Toy's.

I think this point I like Sideshow and Hot Toys about equally. Both companies are churing out some great figures that I'll be buying.

Hot Toys definitely gets the nod when it comes to innovation and taking risks... the Alien, Endo and Robocop figures are great examples. Also they are doing nicely with depth of figures... even though this results in quite a bit of reuse.

Sideshow does have great licenses and in all honesty since I have 50+ of their figures I'm really attached. Also I think (like Josh) that they do have better likenesses and (mostly) paint apps. Also the accessories are usually quite nice. Biggest complaint against would be the bodies... but even those seem to be better on more recent figures.

But to say that on a shelf one looks Sooo much better than the other is a bit of a stretch IMO. I think that the Maul figure easily holds his own next to a Colonial Marine.

For headsculpt and tayloring Maul is a great figure but is not even in the same league as Hot Toys. The marines have complex armor and design that $ideshow has yet to attempt to touch and it's no contest next to a Predator or Endo. Hands down, Hot Toys prevails.

I didn't realize you wanted a disertation. :lol As far as the licenses go. Well, they have LOTR which is not moving fast but I do believe that's because of the detail needed on these. Then you have SW with what SS is doing just looks awesome and SW sells. Then you have Marvel which is hot right now bececause of all the movies making being a comic fan big again. Toss in stuff like John Wayne, Darkness, Alien, Predator, and some of the other lines they have SS is picking a lot of winners.

In regards to the products I think the detail, paint apps, and likenesses are the best on the market. The stuff we're seeing from the LOTR shows just how cool a 1:6th line can be. SW is also kicking butt in terms of all the above.

I like Medicom for sure. However, outside of Jango they haven't done a very good human likeness. So we have to see if Jango is the new rule or the exception. HT has been ok from what I've seen.

Yes and No. I can't afford a ton of big purchases but I've bought my fair share. I have 5 PF's, 3 Medicom Figures (one being customized), bidding on Hurricanes Cody, Jabba/Throne, and spent $2,200 on the SSW Original Balrog. So it's not quite like that. I just feel that overall I'm getting every bit of my dollar with my SS stuff. Though, I will say with the Medicom figures I've bought I can say the same. :)

Um......So Heroes was awesome tonight. LOL! Honestly find the nearest hole and do something with it. :D IE stop fighting over something so stupid. I used to create flame posts just to see how long people would go. This is getting crazy and out of hand. You are all grown men trash talking toys. Don't get me wrong I love them. Spending ALL DAY ARGUING ABOUT THEM IS GETTING NUTS! You all have your right to an opinion. Just let someone talk and don't argue. If any company makes something that represents any movie I love I will enjoy it. I won't care what someone else says. With the exception of the Jedi Luke from Medicom that is. LOL! That was so a joke but true.

I don't know why people keep trying to compare Sideshow to HT and Medicom, it's apples and oranges. Sideshow is a far more diverse company, they don't need to be the "best" at 1/6 because that's not their focus. Sideshow's 1/6 stuff has always been the middle ground between mass market and high-end. Why shouldn't that market be catered to?
