Great ideas all around. I agree that some of these figs could be simplified to make them more affordable and desirable.

Yeah, only Sideshow knows it can get away with throwing in $40 worth of gear, 99% of which is reused.

Back in '87, he was one of the few figures I got, so I guess he's a favourite of mine as well. You could tell things were starting to change - for the worst, imo - in a big way in '87. It started in '86, but got progressively worse each subsequent year, it seemed. So it was nice having Tunnel Rat among an assortment that included Battleforce 2000, Cobra-la, Croc Master and the Pogo.

Lt Falcon was still by far my favourite figure that year though.

Yeah, '87 was a weird year...but still as a 12-year old, I loved the line-up back then. Not so much now. Tunnel Rat, Outback and Falcon (and Dress Blues Gung Ho) were definitely the most realistic of the Joe line-up that year, then you had characters like Chuckles (if Sideshow takes a stab at him, I'd like to see him re-imagined as a joint spec ops / CIA type), Law And Order and the other far out guys like Sneak Peek (UGH), Fast Draw, and Psyche Out.

Grunt - $100, includes webgear, helmet, M16, a small backpack and a couple grenades. Maybe only two sets of hands instead of twelve.

Well, the M-16 could be his throwback secondary weapon, but I'm sure Sideshow would outfit him with the standard XCR.

Lowlight - $135-150, w/full gear loadout including large backpack, Barrett .50 cal sniper rifle, maybe another rifle, Uzi, etc...

Lowlight NEEDS to be made. I like your idea with the updated Barrett, but I'd like to see him with an M40 as well.

My main concern is that he come with two portraits, one with the goggles sculpted on. The loose goggles that come with Duke and Dusty look cool on the helmet, but slightly "off" when placed on the figure's portrait.

And the Uzi (or some other small arms weapon) is a must.

Breaker - $100, basically the same gear as Grunt except a carbine instead of a rifle and a radio set

I like this idea as well. I previously stated I'd like to see some "support" guys like Breaker, Mainframe, and Doc.

Roadblock - $150+ with muscle body, .50 cal MG, SAW, etc.

A .50 cal AND a SAW might be overkill, but I can dig it.

Short Fuze - $100, same gear as Grunt...

Wasn't a huge Short Fuze fan, but if we can get a 1/6 scale mortar, awesome.

From last Sunday's "Ask Sideshow:"

I absolutely love the G.I. Joe line. You’ve brought back the excitement I experienced as a kid collecting these incredible figures. One of my favorites as a kid was Cobra Commander in his battle armor, such as that worn on the cover of A Real American Hero #58. (Not just the helmeted version, but the full armor version w/ an entirely different outfit.) Is there any chance Sideshow will ever produce a version of this figure? Understandably the cost would be higher due to the armor, but I, for one, would be all in. Please consider this figure, if you haven’t already. You’ve nailed every figure you’ve done so far, & I’d love to own a sixth scale version of my favorite rendition of Cobra Commander!

Duly noted. We’re planning to bring a fresh, entirely new Cobra Commander to the line, with the full chromed helmet and more… but we’ll definitely give consideration to his full battle armor look too.

I wonder what the "and more..." refers to. I'm guessing a cape to match the one that came with the PF.

That's a pretty big wad to blow. I'd say we'll be lucky to get 2 new ones and the focus would be on Special Bus SE and his yawning wolf. Especially since they've already said they were slowing down for the polystone garbage.
