Screw polystone.
That's a pretty big wad to blow. I'd say we'll be lucky to get 2 new ones and the focus would be on Special Bus SE and his yawning wolf. Especially since they've already said they were slowing down for the polystone garbage.
true, but there are plenty more wads for Sideshow to blow...
I am just impatient with this line because it takes so long from reveal to in-hand,plus collecting this line is like the old days in that great time of the 80's
I can't really picture how they'd do Shipwreck. "Bearded dude in sailor suit with parrot" seems unlikely to sell particularly well, unless the bulk of his accessories consisted of a full UDT outfit in reference to his second 1/18th figure.Bring it on NOW!
as far as I am concerned,I hope Sideshow reveals 5 joes at SDCC
Destro
Baroness
Shipwreck
Snowjob
Cobra Commander V1 Helmet

Right, so you have a choice of a guy in dungarees with a baby-blue button-up shirt, or a guy in dungarees with a turtleneck.A Classic ARAH Sailor shipwreck with polly would fly off the shelf in my opinion...bonus head exclusive can be a "Cap head" version
He also could have a removable Sweater to go over his "classic" blue for different display option

No, the difference between Night Viper and Heli-Viper uniforms is the colour. Rock 'n Roll and Shipwreck are a different story. What's the difference between RnR's uniform and Shipwrecks? The color.
I dunno... it seems like the uniform can significantly influence perception as well, to judge from some of the comments I've seen about "North Face" Commando Snake Eyes or "Thriller" Crimson Guard. What sells RnR is not the uniform. It's the character, the accessories, and the face sculpt.
Again, I'm not seeing it. In all honesty, postulating a bearded headsculpt and "a coat and variety of caps" as the main selling points seems more appropriate to the spirit of the original 12" line, not the high-speed-low-drag-everyone-has-an-XCR-and-SOLAG-gloves "tacticool" aesthetic of the SSC figures.I think Shipwreck would sell very well as long as it was a good sculpt. More than almost any character in Joeverse Shipwreck has a distinctive face that needs to be reproduced accurately. He'll be light on accessories, but a coat and variety of caps would be nice. Need to price it correctly. Not a $150 figure but I'd pay $120 for him with the right gear, 2 head sculpts, polly. Maybe they figure out some kind of base or something else to boost the loadout.
In the context, it's more like referring to Jar-Jar Binks as a "friendly, helpful local".Its not just a "guy in dungarees" its Shipwreck.
That's like saying "nobody will buy a clean shaven guy in a grey shirt and pants" when talking about Bespin Luke.
Shipwreck would use RNR's arms (so could Dreadnocks and Tomaz/Xamot etc)

Yes, but does not necessarily also mean that those same people will want to buy an action figure of him.Anyone who grew up in the 80s, regardless of whether or not they watched GI Joe, knows Shipwreck. If not by name then certainly by his classic sailor appearance. He's not a guy in a sailor uniform he's THE guy in the sailor uniform. The difference is considerable.

I'm a Joe fan and I wouldn't buy one, and I doubt I'm the only one either. I'd much rather see someone like Flash or Sci-Fi as the next figure.Joefans will buy Shipwreck. All else is irrelevent.
Who blends in fairly seamlessly with the previously-released Joe characters. A more-or-less straight-up USN sailor as some are proposing is... not, though the same could be said for the original, but at least he had the Flagg, W.H.A.L.E. and so forth to justify his existence.Without the ammo belts, machine gun and beard RnR is some dude in OD BDUs.
That's exactly the problem. The costume doesn't sell Rock 'N' Roll here. You add the identity, the ammo belts, the web gear, etc to the figure and it suddenly becomes the best Joe out there to some people.
So the same with Shipwreck. You tie to his identity. Gear him up appropriately to the character (which may include your "tacticool") and suddenly its not a guy in Navy dungarees...it's Shipwreck.
