Never seen Star Trek before. Didn't give a ^^^^ about it, thought it would be boring...

Saw this movie and it was AWESOME.... instant fan! Any chance of Hot Toys doing a line?

In yesterday's Q & A, Sideshow said that they have heard rumors of a company doing high end collectibles. They could have been referring to Hot Toy's. :joy

Oh YEAH....they left it at the perfect mark for anything in the future. It's ripe and ready for at least 3 more stories, but I'm sure they could do more than that.

Nice! Looks like Star Trek has a promising future ahead for it.

Something about the round nacels with the 2x4 looking attachments to the ship just never did it for me, the more angular design for the movie Enterprise always looked best to me. Though, one thing D always had that I loved over the other models, the saucer separation. I still have my old die-cast D with that feature. Don't know what they were thinking though making it a kids toy, sucker's heavy for a little kid to play with. I remember the TNG bridge and engineering playsets being some of my favorite toys when I was a kid, the lights and sounds seemed ahead of their time compared to some of my other playsets I'd owned in my lifetime.

I supposed that'd be nice, but I'd imagine you're looking at at least $150 per figure. Kirck, Spock and McCoy alone would be $450. Trek is a license that requires affordability. HT, while great in quality, is really pushing into the 3 figures per license realm with their prices and all, and most of their lines adhere to that nowadays. Dragon is doing a TNG line, maybe they're getting 1/6 rights to this movie too.

I would LOVE to get my hands on some HT figures from this movie, that would be awesome. Dragon would be ok, but their sculpting leaves something to be desired.

I've loved star trek since I was 13 or so (I am almost triple that now), and loved it. This is the first Star Trek since the 1979 one that made Star Trek feel like a spectacle, but with all of the fun, humor, and action of the original series. People swear, they bleed, they cry! It was fantastic!!!!!!!!!

It's Quantum Mechanix, they got the license and they'll be making their Enterprise replica available along with other stuff.

I'm all for Hot Toys doing 1/6 scale figures of the entire Star Trek crew. Playmates has their 12" Kirk, Spock, McCoy, and "original" older Spock out now. They all look okay considering they're Playmates, and they're about $30.00 each. Toys 'R Us is supposed to have an exclusive 12" Sulu too. I hope to get all of them. I know I'd save up to buy them from Hot Toys too if they do confirm they are doing them in 1/6 scale someday soon.

I like the new Enterprise design. But I'm still very partial to the "refit" Enterprise in Star Trek The Motion Picture. I love the look of that one. It basically stayed the same throughout the entire six movies the original cast were in. Even when the "refit" was remade as the NCC-1071 A, it kept the same design. Yeah, I'm VERY nostalgic for that design. :D But the new Enterprise has grown on me now, and I like it. Especially after seeing it in action in the new movie last night! :joy

I just got back and LOVED it as well.

Perfect casting, great script, true to the established characters.

I give it a 9.5 out of 10. Deducting .5 because of the unnecessary chase scene on the planet Hoth. :lol

I had to run the bathroom for the "wampa chase" of Kirk, but I'd already seen it online. I'm going to see the movie again anyway. :D

I was waiting to see either a Wampa or a frozen gutted Tauntaun carcass or a snowspeeder in the shop or Captain American in a block of ice or the Fortress of Solitude. :lol

You're such a buzzkill, viper. :lol

Everyone wants HT! jk, I'd love to see what QMx comes up with.

They're making this:

They're doing full studio scale replicas along with small (10") replicas.

hope Hot toys do the Police Officer in a 1/6th figure ;)

and an Uhura ;)...oh and the sex scene was HOT!!!
hahahaa

I'm no Star Trek fan, but I'm looking forward to seeing this tomorrow. It looks great, and mostly everyone seems to be giving good reviews.

Saw it last night....

Very well done...a few little bumps here and there (Kirk's mood-ring hair, Bud in space, lizard oompa-loompa to name a few) but the pluses far outweighed them.

Great cast, great production...well done, Abrams! Ready for round 2!

I would pay that for HT figures. I've paid that for Batman and for The Apes, so I don't see the difference really. I think there's a market for higher end collectibles, there just really isn't any!

SPOILERS:

I really did not like it...not at all.

There was way too much comedy in it.

Lord...so many forced moments too, trying way too hard to make the new cast like the old cast. It just did not work.

The only one who pulled it off IMO was Bones.

The score was REALLY lacking as well with no main themes and we only get the Star Trek theme at the very end.

As for the movie, what an awful script and boring story. There were no intense or memorable scenes. The monster scene had me laughing. What the hell was that all about? LOL The Ugnaught creature too... <shakes head>

I also could not believe how fast they gave Kirk the Captain and brought them all together. I know why they did it but it could have been done better.

Overall, the only parts I liked where when the Nimoy scenes.

From a pretty big original cast and TNG fan, I was very dissapointed in this one.

Loved it!

Fantastic fun of a flick!

****Possible Spoiler ahead****

Reboot was well done with the "altering of history" angle.

I didn't want a repeat of the original series. They provided the core characters with enough freedom and flexibility to do their own thing and yet remain respectful to the original characters and the actors that portrayed them.

Already looking forward to the inevitable sequel.
