If sold-out crowd at the showing I went to today is any indication, Star Trek is enjoying a very healthy second weekend! :rock

I agree. I am happy to see the strong business, and repeat viewing business for it! I still plan on seeing it a second time soon. I'd like to see it beat out Demons & Angels for top grossing movie this weekend. :D

I plan on seeing it again, but not till later this summer. I'm sure it will be on way into the summer still. There will be Trekkers seeing it several times.

Just got back from my second viewing also. I saw it at the Warren theater in the balcony section. AWESOME! The crowd applauded at the end. That's something I've only ever seen happen on opening weekend. This is just a great movie.

I even enjoyed Pegg as Mr.Scott this time. I think it was because i was expecting him.

I already wanted to see it again even the day after. Maybe I'll see it again with my brother this weekend, I don't think he's seen it yet.

And I'm a Star Wars fan so that's crazy.

Not really. A good Sci-Fi movie will do that to ya! :lol

I like both SW and ST.

Trekker 40 up, 21 down
A noun, trekkers are originally fans of the TV show Star Trek: the Next Generation, and used the term 'trekker' to differentiate themselves from the original star trek fans who called themselves 'trekkies' Trekker has now come to mean a Trekkie who doesn't understand that they're a trekkie. Within the star trek community, there is still a debate over the difference between trekkies and trekkers, but the only difference is that trekkies came first, and trekkers don't like the term 'trekkie'.
"I came up with the term trekkie. So, it's trekkie, not trekker."
Gene Roddenberry, Star Trek Creator.

Some Star Trek enthusiasts prefer the term "Trekkie", while some others self-identify as "Trekker". The Trekkie v. Trekker debate may mirror the Sci-Fi vs SF debate.

When the media picked up on the word "Trekkies", some fans thought the term sounded too much like "Crazies". Self-identification as a "Trekkie" became even less popular in the late 1980s after a famous national television parody (see Parodies below); several self-described "Trekkers" were quoted as saying they "had a life" (contrasting themselves from "Trekkies").

In the 1991 TV show Star Trek: 25th Anniversary Special, Leonard Nimoy attempts to settle the issue by stating that the term 'Trekker' is the correct one.

The issue is also shown in the film Trekkies 2, in which a Star Trek fan recounts a supposed incident during a Star Trek convention where Gene Roddenberry used the term "trekkies" to describe fans of the show, only to be corrected by a fan that stood up and yelled "Trekkers!" Gene Roddenberry, allegedly, responded with "No, it's trekkies. I should know, I invented the thing."

One popular belief is that a "Trekkie" is a fan of the original Star Trek series and only the original whilst a "Trekker" is a fan of all Star Trek series such as The Next Generation, Deep Space Nine, Voyager, etc

Trekkie.

Trekker is from and describing an uptight American who just doesn't quite get it, and the whole thing is built because they just don't accept that the Trekkie is in fact an Australian invention that has somehow taken over the world. Everyone else in the world is a Trekkie.

Trekkie. Trekkie implies a label or description of a type of person...like an employee. Trekker implies its something you do...like you go on Treks or you are an emplyer, someone who employes. Since only a few us likly participate in interstellar travel through the use of warp drives at faster than light speed, I'd assume we are Trekkies...those who enjoy, take interest and absorb ourselves in Trek.

I took these from various sites, Urban Dictionary, Star Trek Online Forums, etc. :D I bolded an important part. I only care about Abrams' reboot which is TOS so I'd be a Trekkie through and through.
