Question... Was that Michael Dorn doing the voice of the cop who was chasing the the car driven by the young Kirk?

Sounded like it to me...

I doubt it, and that scene seems different from the trailer.."citizen what is your name" bit sounds less robotic then the trailer voice.

I actually appreciated that Cho didn't try a Sulu impression. George Takei has a very unique sound and way of speaking, if he tried to copy it I think it would have come out horrid. Cho was fine in the role he played and definitely liked the retractable sword although it was more katana than fencing blade and his moves reflected that but I appreciated an original take.

Since I used to fence, I would have liked to see Sulu actually use proper fencing technique and beat the crap out of the Romulan. I suppose it's hard to find a choreographer who knows how to fence :monkey2

I will admit his sword was pretty cool though.

Heads up when Night at the Museum 2 goes into theatres on May 22nd, the IMAX theaters will be showing that exclusively, so you've got one week left to get those Trekkie IMAX viewings in.

Heh.

If you still need a good reason to see the new Star Trek movie, this may be it. R2-D2 is in the movie as an Easter Egg, and if you can figure out which scene our beloved astromech makes an appearance, you should enter the “Star Trek Easter Egg Sweepstakes” on Facebook!

Hmmmm....I didn't notice R2 anywhere, even on the HUGE IMAX screen when I saw it on May 7. I am going to see it a second time on a smaller, regular theater screen. I'll look hard for him this time! :D

I was happy that John Cho didn't try a George Takei impression. Of course all of the other actors I felt weren't doing impressions of the rest of the TOS crew in this movie either.

I've seen an interview where John Cho did do an impression of George Takei, and he nailed it. It was great! :D

I loved the Lens Flair....it's funny because me and JJ have a very similer filming style. Lens Flair, shakey cam, contrasted, ect....I like that guy.

Not at my IMAX. My IMAX 5 min from my house is showing Star Trek well into June. But the IMAX 30 minutes away will be picking up Night at the Museum exclusively. So one gets Trek and keeps it and the other gets Museum.

Jimmy Doohan was a great actor (even if he put on the fake scottish accent) which i hear pissed off Scottish people since he was English or something but, anyway..Simon Pegg brings a new comical liveliness to the character that i can apprciated and i am sure if James Doohan was alive he would think the same.

James Doohan was Canadian...

But Pegg was too over the top for me and that would be more the writer and director's fault, than the actor, IMO.

How could you possibly expect him to know that?...

Next you'll be saying something crazy like Shatner was a Canadian. :naughty

:angrycanu Well, at least the new movie got Bruce Greenwood on the screen to keep the STAR TREK/CANADA connection going...

...and Greenwood was phenomenal!

He was... And he is a strong actor (even as the President in the National Treasure sequel)-- It was great that Pike survived as it seemed rather obvious from the Kelvin's earlier encounter with Nero that the Captain was going to buy it-- The fact that Kirk saved Pike made him all the more heroic than if they had been unable to save him.

I wonder now though if Pike is stuck in the wheelchair (similar to how Pike was in the original series)?

That's a good question, I would hope that Pike is in the sequel.

Yup its in TJ Hooker plaza which is located at the crossstreets of Denny Crane Lane and James T. Kirk Avenue. :D

I just watched this again, everyone complained about Kirk's rise to power but no one complained how the majority of the other crew members gained their positions? Uhura gains her position on the bridge because the officer before her cannot speak Romulan. Sulu gains his because the pilot who was supposed to be there was sick! Of course we know how Scotty got his, not only was he teleported there but he could handle what was needed of the Engineering crew at that moment of crisis where the others froze. Of the established crew of the USS Enterprise the only ones who were supposed to be there were Chekov and Spock! :lol
