...and just so you know I do love it, I also own the Hulk v Spidey Dio, also a Canale sculpt, also no nose. :dance

Says who? Do you own it? There is plenty of shading in the original Com. The main difference between the 2 Coms seems to be the shade of blue in the costumes. The JSC Com looks like it has a slightly darker blue to it. My Olivetti Com certainly is shaded well in all of the cuts of his muscles and crevices in my statue.

Look (and I'm not singling you out here), there is no need to try and find issues with the original Com if you are going to buy the new one. For most peeps the old Com is financially out of reach so the new one is going to be the one they pick up. The same goes for all the peeps that own the original Com but are trying to find faults with the JSC Com. They are both nice pieces. Peeps should add whichever one they like most (and can afford) to their collections.

Again skillet, this post is not aimed at you. I'm just seeing a trend where peeps just seem to be nitpicking on both Coms for no real reason.

Thank you! It was starting to look like people who own the 1/4 Com were trying to justify why their's was Superior(yes I went there :lol) to the new JSC Com and vice versa. To me, they are only similar in that they are on a wall for the base. Two different artist interpretations, two very beautiful statues. I own the 1/4 Com, and will be getting the JSC version as well. Get ready to see more and more of this discussion as SIdeshow revisits older statues like Cap, Red Skull, Thor, Doom, Hulk, etc. Just enjoy the ride fellow collectors!

The orig 1/4 Comq is not as dramatically shaded.

That is why I said my post wasn't to single you out. I wasn't sure if you owned the original Com. If someone is going to comment on the shading, it's nice to know that they actually have seen or own the piece. In all honesty, I think the original Com has good shading to it. However, based off pics, the JSC Com does seem to have a slightly darker shade of blue to it. That's why I think there may seem to be a difference in shading between the 2 Coms. We really won't know anything for certain until we get the JSC production pieces in hand. We all know that the production pieces can change at any time from the proto pics we are shown.

I agree with you on all the pieces you listed above. They are awesome looking. I can't see how anyone can go wrong with any of them. The same can be said for either Spidey Com. It all just boils down to what we can afford (if someone doesn't already own the original) and personal taste. Please take no offence to my post. I was speaking in general terms. It just seems that peeps who passed on the original Com want to find faults with it now that a cheaper alternative is available. Also, it seems that some peeps who own the original Com just can't pay the JSC Com the props that it deserves. They both look good and they are different. That's a good thing in my book.

Exactly Nightcrawler. Anytime we get a new sculpt of a character that has already been released, we seem to have the same nitpicking and criticism. It's pointless. As you said so well...enjoy the ride!

Nitpicking and criticisms is what an open internet forum is made for. And at $300 or 1k if your going to go after the original, I hope one would seriously consider before they buy. This happens in most threads...

I truly cant wait to own these. I always said I would never own duplicates of one character. However when it comes to Spider-Man he is the exception for me as well as his villans like Carnage, Venom, and Green Goblin. The trick I think is one acquiring them then knowing where to place them so it looks good and not overwhelming. My Top 3 favorite pieces are the Original Comiquette, Koto and then the new Comiquette of Spider-Man.

If someone is seriously considering buying one over the other, I couldn't agree with you more.

Wow. That is EXACTLY how I have them ranked as well. :lol
I would even toss in the new Bowen modern museum Spidey to round out my top 4 favorite Spidey statues.

I thought the Koto looked really good. I almost put money down on that one. Missing the original comq has been my biggest collecting disappointment so I'm happy to get the new one. You can never have enough of one character you love.

Yep. I have a rule of one character per scale since I collect from many companies. However, for my favorite characters, I always bend that rule. By the way, that Koto Spidey is ridiculously good.

Exactly... and that's hilarious Filip. Excluding paint apps first I always go for the pose, sculpt, then paint apps of how I choose the pieces I'm going to collect. To me the Original Comiquette is just the PERFECT pose when capturing Spider-Man. When I first saw the Koto Spidey I passed at first due to the wire webbing but then gradually fell in Love with it and snag one right b4 prices skyrocketted online. There is still one at my local comic shop for around the price I paid. I will be getting the new Comiquette however and will stay on the hunt for the original. I should be recieving my Venom Unleashed to create that cool diorama set within the hour I'm stoked. :panic:

I've got my green Hulk Com right next to my Spidey Com. They look great together. That Hulk Com is a raging beast. Both pieces are signed by Stan! :rock2

I did not like putting those to together when I had them both. Spidey was just too big and Hulk was just to small. But two great looking pieces to be sure.

I know this not really the thread for all of this but since they are being talked about.

I do miss these Epic pieces. Only really regret selling Spidey though but new comi should fill the void nicely.

Hulk Love!!! Influenced by Shia's photos :lol

I actually own all 3 pieces you have in your pics Jaws. LOVE the Spidey, Hulk, and Punisher Coms. I know you sold Spidey and Hulk. Do you still have the Punisher Com? The Punisher Com is also a great statue. One of the faves of my collection.

You have the Hulk Maq so that at least eases you letting go of the Com. Hopefully the new Spidey Com will be THE Spidey piece you want in your collection. If it doesn't, you know what you have to do. :lol

I sold my Hulk Comi for the Hulk Maquette. I just don't have the room for a bunch of hulks (until they announced PH then I made room :) )

I sold Spidey because I needed the funds at the time. I no longer have the Punisher Comi. I can't remember why I sold him but it was probably to fund another statue. I still think all three are classics. For the last six years I have been a stay at home dad. So if I wanted another statue or needed funds something usually had to go. as not going to put my family in debt for my hobby. So I did a lot of Ebaying over the past 6 years :)

Well the kids are in school and I am back to work now so I think I will take up storing and rotating my purchases from here on out.

Jaws, I take it you like Olivetti. :yess:

Ya know. I think his art work is OK. He's not one of those that I get all excited for when I see he has done an issue. However his work translates very well to some great statues.

Ha! That inverted hand on Spidey, that's the first time I've seen that.

Woo Hoo.. An original Joke by JAWS :)

Off topic...

Jaws are those original US 1 sheets SW posters?
That "Gone With the Wind" Empire poster was always one of my favorites.

Nope.... I agree that it is an all time classic... I never realized that it was "Gone with the Wind" in design until about two or three years ago. Just never noticed. But it is IMO one of the top 2 or 3 posters of all time. Very classy.
