Re: Jackie Chan retires from action movies.

I guess that means no Karate Kid sequel. :lol

Re: Jackie Chan retires from action movies.

False alarm, sort of. Jackie had this to say today on his facebook page:

Hello all my friends and fans,

Yesterday in my press conference in Cannes for Chinese 12 Zodiac I said that this movie was my last big action movie.

Today I was shocked when I woke up to read all the news coverage that I was retiring from doing Action movies.

I just want to let everyone know that I am not retiring from doing action movies. What I meant to say is that I need to do less of the life risking stunts on my movies. After all these years of doing so many stunts and breaking so many bones, I need to take better care of my body so I can keep working. I will continue to do international action movies.

And I will keep improving my English :)

I love all of you!

Jackie

So does this mean, by "international action movies", he's only going to do Hollywood flicks? I'm assuming he's addressing his HK fans. Or maybe he's not.

Jackie, need more clarification! This kinda sounds like good news, that he's not done just yet.

Nice to know hes keeping his door open without tkaing the risk of breaking his neck. I really don't see anyone being able to fault this man for using stunt men doubles at this point in his life.

More clarification!

"I will ask my body how long I can go. I'm not young anymore," he said, but added: "In the future I'll still do Karate Kid 2, Rush Hour 4."

So, we'll still see Hollywood stuff from him like Karate Kid or Rush Hour, but it looks like his Hong Kong-styled action flicks are over.

I'm two ways about this news. Not really interested in Karate Kid 2.

Easiest way to know if a Jackie film is worth watching:
If it's a Hollywood film - don't bother.
If it's a HK film, call friends over.

I see. . . :D

Like Nam says, good that he does this before his age catches up to him during one of his insane stunts and leads to irreparable damage. Jackie Chan is the man.

Too late for that. There was an interview on YouTube where he talks about what it's like waking up in the morning. :(

I'm guessing what that means is he'll have a stuntman now, instead of being one.

In the movies he makes over here, they don't allow him to do the real dangerous stunts that he does in Hong Kong. They would never allow him to do anything that might break a bone or kill himself.

So Rush Hour 4 might still be on. :lol

One of my All-time favorite actors. Jackie Chan is arguably the greatest action movie star of al-time. His contributions to cinema are unmatched. If there's one man who deserves to retire, it's Jackie Chan.

Here's my Jackie Chan Music Video. Favorite fight scenes cued up to "Self Bias Resistor" by Fear Factory

Well I was talking paralysis or death. Obviously, the guy's not gonna be in good condition destroying his body the way he has over the years.

Yeah, it's a shame he's got to call it quits but I guess he reached the point where all the damage took its toll.
