Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Damn, that's a sharp looking tux!

wow ...makes it seem like a whole new figure !

Yep... what a difference 9 years makes, right? :lol

The difference is night and day. The old looked like a frumpy low-end doll, and the new looks like a nice collectible. Now if that heads gets a very realistic repaint it will match nicely with the suit.

I was surprised just how bad the original tux was when I finally dug this old figure out. But this new tux really does invigorate an old figure.

I agree about the head but rather than a repaint I'm holding out for a whole new sculpt of Connery. Hoping anyway. I do like the old Sideshow sculpt but it is caricature. Maybe this new guy, Inigou, will take a crack at Connery. He's doing just about everyone else.

That looks great man! I believe Inigo said already he's doing Connery and Moore for WGP...can't wait to see them.

Thank you, sir. And that's great news about Connery and Moore. I need both actually. But I always get a little nervous when someone promises a lot of volume. Hope this comes to pass.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Man, all you guys were so right about the Toyscity Tuxedo -- absolutely sharp as a knife!!!

Here's a compare of the...
original Sideshow Dr. No Bond in tux VS. new TCT Tux on same figure...

Forgot the pocket square.

NOTE: on this particular bash I'm using the Mens Hommes TUXEDO SHIRT and not the TCT shirt.

Nice!
Saw that you mentioned you forgot the pocket square.
Is it even possible to have a pocket square on this? I haven't seen one picture where there is a pocket square.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

hey fellas, just bleach for about 10 minutes leaves the tux a grey color, dyed for 20 minutes in RIT Navy blue and I think I achieved the perfect shade of blue! also added a magnet closure to the jacket, once this is painted, it will be THE perfect bond! this is just a quick phone shot

very easy to add a pocket square. heres mine

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I was considering the option of dying this TCT Tux to midnight blue for my Craig Bond... but it looks so nice on Connery I may have to buy a second one to try it.

Amazing what a good, nicely tailored set of clothing will do. I can't stop looking at how realistic my old Sideshow Bond looks now. Easiest, most satisfying bash I've ever done. :)

Hot damn! I need me a Sideshow Bond now! Anyone know where I can get one for a decent price?

Pretty darn sharp, if a little skinny looking somehow, you notice it most in the legs.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Ok, fair enough, I do know though that the Frankenstein Monster wasn't a Buck, it had a completely different head and neck assembly and a PVC head.

Anyway, why you'd still want to use one with a modern head is beyond me, the gear fits later bodies for which the heads are better designed.
I totally agree...the only reason I'm so familiar with the head material is because I was constantly removing heads because of those crap bodies.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I was probably under the impression they were resin because I cut down the neck on my Connery head with a razor saw and it didn't cut like vinyl.

I spotted you had a DID Jack head on eBay, but, I'm waiting for a UK dealer to get one in as I know from the rest of his prices that I can get it dirt cheap.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I see,

The cut of the original tux pants appeared to make the legs look chunkier.

The TCT tux is definitely on the slimmer side but close...

I could probably fill out the legs a bit to get more shape. Funny though, I had to remove the knee-high Sideshow socks because they were so thick they were bulging the pants around the calves (visible sock line).

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Great upgrade!

I remember how "high-end" SSC figures were compared to the other 1/6 offerings by Hasbro and 21st Century Toys. I wouldn't put down the original Bond figures as bad rather than simply dated. They were great for their time. For my dads' needs and mine, they all still get the job done. But still, frumpy doll suit is a fitting adjective for today's standards of quality.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Woah there! I have a 21st Century African American Firefighter that I'd put up against any Sideshow product of the time and for years to follow. The uniform and equipment don't hold up to Hot Toys Firefighter offerings (Trainee 2.0 on my want-list), but I'm pretty sure I've never seen anyone else release anything as good. And while the head doesn't have facial paint to speak of beyond eyes, hair and mustache, he doesn't look like a doll. ;)

Thanks!

I definitely agree -- not "bad", just dated. I think the Sideshow Bond stuff was great for its time... and for the money. $30 got you a Bond in tux that was pretty awesome in 2002. Today I spent more than that just on the tux.

Tailoring has come a long way though.
