Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Happy you guys like it!

Is it also tt narrow knock off body?Looks ok with proportions.

Yep, it's a tt narrow knock off. The proportions really look great in person. It helps that the DID tux fits that body like a glove. The only thing with using this body is that it is quite tall, which I don't mind since I'm displaying it on it's own, but I know a lot of you like to display your figs in a group, which can be an issue if you want everyone to be at accurate relative heights.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

No argument here, except to say that other people's paint-ups and photos look just as good. With this particular paint app, I'm not terribly fond of the brownness of the hair nor the shine that appears in the photos - which could be the result of the photo.

Still working on my BBKill sculpt and just waiting for the Inigou to be delivered before I send them both out for paint. In addition to the pinched face on the BBKill, I do also find that the scale of the skin texture is far too exaggerated. You can really see it in these latest photos. The relief on the wrinkles and small pits are far too great for 1/6th scale. I've been sanding mine down to mitigate this. The highest-rated sculpts from Hot Toys and others don't have this kind of relief for example.

I know what you mean about the texture and if you're not careful with the paint it could highlight that even more. I think, however, that, if neither of us had seen Inigou's sculpt then we might still be rating BBKill's just that bit more. To me, Inigou's is a technically better sculpt all round and it comes out of the casting process a lot better too. Whether or not this is down to BBKill and WGP using different casters I'm really not sure, but, it could have helped.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Inigou shipped out a sculpt a few days ago, though I'm not sure how long it will take to get here. I know packages INTO Spain can take an eternity (I ship there regularly), so we'll see about this direction. At this point in time, after further mods to the BBKill sculpt, I really don't know how this will be able to match/top it when they're painted by the same artist. Really looking forward to getting my mitts on it to see what's what in person.

My BBKill still needs a bit more fine tuning to reduce some difficult to reach grain/wrinkles and then a final pass with some super fine wet sandpaper before I give it a final buffing. That's all before sending it to paint of course. It's not much different right now than from my last images, but I feel it's improved in a number of ways, including the last work I did tuning the cleft in the upper lip. I'll post a few images once I've done the above final steps and before it goes for paint. Probably some side by sides with the Inigou in the same lighting. Excited. About everything except my bank balance. ;)

The thing there is that you shouldn't have had to do all that extra work, the mark of a great sculpt is how little work you have to do. If the sculptor has done their job, it's all the easier for you to do yours. I enjoyed working on great sculpts, but didn't so much when I had to make good sculpts great.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Finally completed my Bond a few days ago.
Really like how it came out. Was a lot of fun putting it together :)

Oh yes,

Now that is one top Bond! Inigou's Craig takes it hands down, and if encouraged, there's every possibility that he may well do a Skyfall version.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I have yet to see a single sculpt in this hobby that wasn't off at least a little bit in some regard. IMO, BBKill's is better stock for features than many from Hot Toys. I've covered the elements I've been changing on it: skin texture, excessively deep grooves, upper lip, nose, chin definition primarily. I will also add some hair to below the temples because I don't like the shaved sideburn look from Skyfall. I didn't have to do any of these things, but since the sculpt is unpainted, I felt it was possible and took the chance.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

That's all well and good, but Inigou's didn't look to me as though it would need any additional work doing to make it look good when painted, as the pics on the previous page have proved.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

But to me, in photos, BBKills looks as close to dead-on Craig as anyone has gotten (even more so now with my mods) while Inigou's is good, but doesn't. When I have it in hand I'll have a better idea and be able to better describe what's off and maybe have some mods for that one too.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Ok, we'll just have to see what your BBKill looks like when it's painted up then. Perhaps BBKill could be persuaded to make another that incorporates the mods.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Keep in mind it's just tuning, so if you prefer something drastically in one sculpt over the other, it's not likely these subtle changes will affect that opinion. But yeah, it's going to be interesting to see them both painted up by the same person with the same set of reference images and with the same direction/instructions.

WOW! That certainly is a beautiful Craig... if I can say it that way. Really well put-together figure. Outstanding.

Did you go the Coulson body route? That's the Toy City tux, right?
