Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Craig what what I liked least about Girl with the Dragon tattoo for exactly that reason it felt like he was playing a lazier, clumsier and stupider James Bond. I partly blame him and his mannerisms and partly blame the wardrobe department. I'm not a Dragon tattoo expert but his character seemed a little less debonair in the Swedish film.

I think Craig is a good actor but a better James Bond. He does not have a huge range. For that matter neither does the aforementioned Tom Cruise.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I like him too, but, based on previous stuff I'd seen him in, when he was announced, I just couldn't picture him as Bond. Then I saw Casino Royale and liked him right away.

Did you ever hear of, or even see, a UK show called The Professionals? There was an actor in that called Lewis Collins and I always thought he would have made a brilliant Bond. He had the looks and charm for a ladies man but totally kicked butt when he had to. There was this hard edged style to him that would so have suited an 80's Bond. If Moore had quit after Spy Who Loved Me the timing would have been perfect.

What might have been....

Lewis Collins did in fact audition for the James Bond role in 1982, but was deemed being "too aggressive".

He did a good job playing a SAS undercover operative in the film WHO DARES WINS known as THE FINAL OPTION for the US release.

When Connery left the Bond role originally, Oliver Reed was considered by the then producers to be considered for Bond, the opportunity was never offered.

DAMN . . . that is one superb custom.

Wor-gar, she looks fantastic. You've really got the mood of the character.

Superb Solitaire...

Thanks all! :yess:

She's a work in progress and more like a first pass. I still have little tweaks and bits here and there to finalize her. I probably never would have made this character had it not been for the Barbie outfit which seemed to have promise for a bash.

So here's a question: who is the BEST Craig Bond girl so far? Severine? Vesper? Strawberry Fields?

Vesper.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

One more BOND figure finished -- nearly -- this weekend...

SOLITAIRE...

Need proper hands, rings and I need to redo the hairdo -- she took a tumble and the whole hair thing went wonky. I hate doing doll hair!

Damn Wor-far that is a great Solitare! :clap you should enter her into the TA custom contest for this month

Vesper.

I quite like Severine but I've only seen the movie once. I also found Strawberry Fields to be very sexy, something about her soft looks to compliment Craig's in "Quantum". Anyway, those two stand out to me personally. Vesper I like as a character but the actress reminds me of a crazy ex so its hard for me to judge her cleanly.

Thank you! I feel she's about 60% there so I couldn't enter her but thanks for thinking she's worthy.

I respectfully disagree.

IMHO . . . Vesper brought more depth, dimension, & portrayal of a Bond girl in recent years compared to virtually all of the Bond girls during Brosnan's time as Bond.

I did not care for Strawberry Fields . . . she was a "filler" character that Bond seduced/used due to the necessity at the time, but later had remorse upon discovery of her demise.

As for Camille & Severine from QUANTUM OF SOLACE & SKYFALL . . . they're average at best and don't stand out noticeably in terms of a character's depth, dimension, & portrayal. Vesper soundly meets all of them.

Really!? Nice!

Berks! They should have cast him! Hope they're ruing it now!

Ollie as Bond, hmmmmmmm...........

They would have run out of Martini very quickly!

No need to disagree, I wholeheartedly agree with you. I was being superficial, not story-based, with my preferences. I did say Vesper had the best characterization.

I thought he was better in Tattoo actually. I do agree that he was quite effortlessly stylish in the role. I think as a result of Bond, he was typecast as a bit of a "killing machine" (look no further than his intro scene in Cowboys and Aliens).

As far as being limited in his acting range, well you either cast by type or against it.

I like Vesper best, though I'll admit to liking Camille a lot. I liked that she had her own plot and was reasonably capable... And it was refreshing to have a Bond Girl who didn't give it up. Kinda nice to have some recognition given to the fact that a girl who just avenged her family isn't too focused on hopping in bed.

Strawberry Fields was just a trench oat and a pair of boots. Absolutely no depth to that one at all, though I felt very bad for her. Severine was good as a plot device, but I was lukewarm on her as well. Would love to do a custom of her though; she's beautiful.

I loved M as a Bond girl in Skyfall. :p

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Asides from Bond, I enjoyed Craig's roles in the following films.

ROAD TO PERDITION: I really despised his character based on his performance.

LAYER CAKE: Though a British crime thriller, I relished the unexpected humor & portrayal of his character that was not the typical criminal.

DEFIANCE: At first the character & portrayal came across as a brutish Bond . . . almost a forced simplified Bond which was something that was not necessarily seen previously.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

:lol You're right. That's probably why I like her; boots, coat and that's it.

Easy bash anyway.

Ahh Gemma Arterton  she is gorgeous.

Yep same here. I actually liked him in Cowboys and Aliens as well. The movie wasnt the best by any means but I liked his performance

I'm against the wind. I didn't like his character/portrayal in COWBOYS & ALIENS let alone the whole film. I actually enjoyed the original graphic novel more so than the film. I felt the source material translated better in graphic novel form than on film. Maybe it was the overall script and/or casting? It sounds odd, but that's my perspective.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I like the little bruise on Gemma's inner thigh...

Anyway... has anyone got a comparison shot of all the Craig sculpts, all the worthwhile ones anyway?

From what I've seen, bbkill's looks to be the best. But I honestly don't think the AB02 looks too bad actually, painted and finished and all. Really need cleaner pics to know.

Also, anyone know if there's a black shawl-collared tuxedo out there?
