Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Craig isn't a young man anymore. He has always had a craggy look to him, and I remember him being described as "brutally handsome", which is why some people had trouble buying him as Bond. Looking back at it now, I think it wasn't the obvious choice, although with circumspect, a good one.

Yes the Maximus Connery is best for a dr no bond. It's the best out there but I want a hot toys/ enterbay/ Rainman etc. quality Conerry. No exceptions. The Maximus is more detailed and realistic than the sideshow but its still not up to snuff. That being said its proudly beside by Craig. Repainted medicom, it's actually near perfect likeness. One of the best in my collection currently.

I'd love to see your Connery and Craig, please take some pics.

IIRC . . .

Didn't Sideshow supposedly have a prototype head sculpt of Craig as Bond some years back when they were still actively producing 1:6 JB stuff, but then the sculpt was abandoned/not approved for whatever reasons?

Craig himself supposedly rejected it. Looking at it now I think with a good repaint its still pretty passable for a 2006 sculpt...

He must be one of the best casting choices, well, ever. Everyone wrote him off and look at him now, the best bond in the biggest ever film in the UK!

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

IMHO . . .

Craig is good for a minimum of two more Bond films . . . maybe three, but that's really pushing it.

The question lies . . . who could be tapped for the next Bond?

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

If they're interested in securing someone for more than a 5 picture deal, IMO, they really need to start with someone much younger that perhaps has an older look to them. This gives them the longevity required for the multi-year fill production process. Obviously Bond fans wouldn't want to see someone who looks 23 in the role. ;) At least not this Bond fan.

There in lies the issue. I don't think the producers let alone the studio consider the longevity of an actor in any type of iconic roles (nowadays) to be more than say three pictures let alone five.

Back in the era of Connery and those following him . . . the mindset & rationale could have been different.

I was surprised that Brosnan lasted four pictures with DIE ANOTHER DAY being his last as well as the most outlandish of the four he did . . . not to say DIE ANOTHER DAY was bad, but just very over the top in various aspects compared the Brosnan's prior outings as Bond. Moreover, I don't think the majority of actors nowadays want to be stuck with a particular role due to be being typecast and forever being associated with a certain character/role.

If another actor is cast as Bond, it has to be someone in their early to mid 30's to commit to the character for at least 10 years for three films.

Part of the issue with the producers & studio is that a worthy script of Bond caliber cannot be drafted quickly and how fickle the demands are for a script before committing to film among other things.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Even now with so many other sculpt of Craig as Bond, I really like (and have always liked) that sculpt.

I like it too it was my top Craig for over a year, maybe more. Then BBkills knocked it off but was short lived now Medocom rules the roost. Shame those figures are not parted out repainted it is truly one of the most awe inspiring heads I have in my collection. I still think it can be outdone tho!

That being said I don't like the way that Gestapo in the above pic looks straight out of the box the recast suffers a lot. The original Feng head is what I had. I've seen some decent repaints of that Gestapo head though.

Also Wor GAr ill definitely take pics of that Connery bud, I lost my camera card and reader but I can always take iPhone pics. I'm excited about where my Craig is at too.

Need proper hands, rings and I need to redo the hairdo -- she took a tumble and the whole hair thing went wonky. I hate doing doll hair!

wow I never knew that.

...and it does look more like Steve McQueen to me....but its interesting to think that Sideshow were thinking their James Bond line would continue.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Wor-gar, she looks fantastic. You've really got the mood of the character.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Superb Solitaire,

The thing with Daniel Craig is that he's kept himself busy with other movies and perhaps doesn't feel typecast.
Though I myself haven't seen them I expect you wouldn't watch Girl With The Dragon Tatoo or Cowboys & Aliens and think 'Well he's just being Bond there!'.

If you look at say Tom Cruise it took him till at least Interview with a Vampire for him to stop playing Maverick.
