Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

War-Gar, she's stunning. Love the attention to detail on her - the cards are a nice touch too! Who is next for you?

Wow-- great pose. :hi5:

Thanks guys! :duff

Next, I'm working on Bond in "Spy Who Loved Me" battledress and then most likely my final female figure... Anya Amasova. Black cocktail dress. That one killed me when I was a kid. Finding a suitable sculpt has been the problem.

:exactly: Still kills me.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

The only reason the Serenity heads were larger scale was because he was used to sculpting that size for Sideshow, as aparently they shrink a lot when casted at factories. His later sculpts like Miami killer or Marty Mcfly were perfect size.

Oh, ok, I haven't really seen many of his latest heads with anything next to them so I couldn't compare.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Is there a thread for posting Bond-related diorama images/backgrounds? I've seen some for a few other series but never noticed one for Bond. If there isn't, I'd like to start one in the dio group as I have a few images I'd like to share.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

If it's Bond related I don't see why you can't post it here. You're more than welcome to start another thread though.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I'd love to see roccos attempt at Daniel Craig.

If anyone status a group comission I'm in!!!

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I have asked Trevor about Craigs h s in facebook. He will make it for 500$(two heads included). For me it's impossible:(

What are his terms for a group commission? That sounds like the cost if it was a private commission. Usually I've paid $50-$100 for headsculpts in the past from various artists.

I'd be curious to see what Trevor could whip up. I have a "Nolanverse Batman Only" rule for my collection, but I think for a few certain characters (Maximus, Indy, Craig Bond), I could bend that rule and get those done.

I got a Loading Toys head and a crappy suit a few years back for a Craig Bond for my dad. I didn't repaint it. With a repaint, I think that is one of the better heads available. But it's not up to my standard of figure so I haven't gotten another for my collection.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I will ask.Or-maybe you can, because i'm new member yet and don't know much about group commisions.Just find him in facebook and write messadge.

I've not been blown away by Rocco's stuff myself, it's a bit stylised to me. If Trev wants $500 then I'm guessing if enough of us are interested we can't rule him out yet.....

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

$500 seems pretty cheap for a commission. If figure sculpting were higher up in my wheelhouse, I'm not sure I'd take that deal. Unless of course it's not exclusive and he retains the right to cast duplicates in the future.

I don't want the images to get lost with all the discussion and I thought it might be best to keep diorama stuff in a forum better suited for it - though there may not be one in this case.

After a few more searches, I'll post links here later when I find an existing thread or start my own.

Absolutely if Trevor only asks 500 for a commission I'm totally in. Even if he is not the be all and end all of likenesses his track record is enough for me to take a gamble at putting money in to having him take a stab at it.

I would not just do that with anybody,

As for Rocco I've hinted at it before but if a group commission is to be started for this over Trevor I have to make abundantly clear my stance on it I won't have any interest in his take on DC.

Specifically with Rocco, it's more than just a gamble on a likeness that could be hit or miss as I feel (just my opinion here) and I might ruffle a few feathers, that despite the fact that he is a person with talent and gets close to capturing good likenesses in a few of his heads, his heads are only about 50% up to the level they should be in terms of standards of 1/6 heads. I feel like he just sort of stops halfway through, his heads are not refined enough and I've seen him do some refined work on his website so I know h has the capability, if he spent about twice as long on these and carefully refined the details and made the heads look less obvious they were sculpted out of clay he'd have a few strong heads. I'll fully admit his Connery, Al Swearagin and Res Dogs actually came close to hitting the mark. Like I said he is a person with talent and I have respect for him. I want to make that clear before I look like a jerk for crapping all over his work which is not my intent.

I just feel that he pumps them out way too fast and the work suffers. Really who can blame him? there are enough people willing to toss their money at him and pay him the pricetag of a higher standard that his work does not live up to, but it could.

At the end of the day people seem to be satisfied with what he offers and that's OK too. My collection is far to big just to have a version of a character in it simply because it is the only version available. If it's not outstanding it has no place on my shelves... just too much good stuff on the market to buy to be ok to settle for mediocrity.

And with Daniel Craig there are MANY MANY versions of him. Many of them quite good, if something were specifically started and I was to be involved in pursuing it to happen it would have to be with the creme' de la crop of sculptors. I deem Trevor as a leader in that bunch.

I'm not knocking Rocco personally he has a market, he'd be a fool not to capitalize. Maybe one day he will make something that turns my crank and when that happens I'd praise the work as hard as anyone else.
