Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Once you have it in hand, you may re-consider the repaint. I suspect that photo is a lot darker than it should be. Every bit of white in it appears some shade of grey and it looks like the redness may also be exaggerated by the photo.

This is what 10 seconds in Lightroom does. ;) The image may not appear "correctly" if your browser doesn't support color management.

You know what? This head wouldn't make a bad base for an Archer custom. Some additional hair material, more definition in the chin cleft, slight resculpt of the eyebrows, un-wrinkle the eyes a bit, and then paint up like a cartoon (to match mt board avatar for example)

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

LIIIIIINNNNK!!!!!

I want that head, NOW!!

EDIT:

GRRRRRR, looks like it's gone!

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I contacted the seller and he'll reserve one for me. So, one way or another you'll get to see what it's like. Yay!

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Cool, you should get one before I do, the brand name for the sculpt, according to the auction description, is Grander, certainly not one I've heard of.

It also doesn't look like any other Craig I've seen, so it seems it's a brand new sculpt.

Can't wait to see it in hand, even if the paint is bad and the underlying sculpt is good it can still be worked with.

That would make a decent Archer with some mods, but way off for Craig. This head like the digital sculpt, is too elongated from top to bottom. And textured like a golf ball. Easy pass.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

More for us then!

It's better than some are, and don't forget what a macro pic can do. Besides, when you scale that down the texture won't be as noticeable.

The digital sculpt came out the way it did because the printer processed the lens distortion of the virtual camera in ZBrush. This new head has been physically sculpted so the only distortion is in the photograph.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Look in the customs section for "last rat standing WIP" or do a google search for medicom jake lonergan. And fengs original DC.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I hated Feng's personally....

I should clarify, show me another that is available. Te "Last Rat Standing" one is a WIP or not available, no?

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Ahh, available. That changes things, haha! The last rat standing (imaresqd) sculpt isn't available no, but for me its the best ever by an absolute mile.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Know the following going into any purchase decisions:

1. The super-awesome looking photo of the recent eBay sculpt was processed in Photoshop Lightroom by me to correct the exposure and temperature of the original. The actual sculpt for sale on eBay may not look anything like my color-corrected version once you get it in hand.

2. This sculpt so far looks to be new hair and paint on the Roadshow Craig sculpt as Platty pointed out - I also posted the Roadshow photo for comparison a few posts back. The Roadshow is still available for sale at KGHobby and likely eBay as well.

Yes, the sculpt is a little too long, but the likeness is quite good. At least it doesn't have incorrectly micro-sized ears like the licensed HT sculpt of Christian Bale. ;)

The sculpt being made by Adam (imaresqd1) at the moment is nice, but utterly irrelevant. It's not now nor will it ever be for sale, you might as well be holding out hope for Daniel Craig's own served and shrunken head. It's also not finished, something that some people just don't understand. ;)

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

It's still the best ever 1:6 sculpt of Craig. It doesnt need to be finished to see that, if you ask me. I'm confident when I say that. I'm quite clued up on DC sculpts, I've researched and bought my fair share.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

Like I said, I don't know Adam, so what I say has nothing to do with him personally. But between point X and point Y, there's always the opportunity for a complete cluster-f%ck. The fact that the sculpt will not be available automatically causes some people to give it more praise. The fact no one will be seeing it in-hand except whomever commissioned it means it will never be compared to other sculpts. Probably won't see the same kind of scrutinizing photos other sculpts get as well.

It may not need to be finished for someone to proclaim it "the best" - but that proclamation has no value because regardless of the sculpt's qualities, it just won't see the light of day. Like I said, you might as well be looking at photographs of Daniel Craig posing. It can be made out of diamond, gold, flocked with Craig's real hair and imbued with his DNA.

It can and should certainly be appreciated and lauded as a piece of art, because that's what it is. It's not a product and never will be.

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

I keep checking the pics of the new sculpt against my Roadshow one and it has been heavily modded if it is indeed based on it.

There is a possibility that it's a new head sculpted by the same sculptor and cast by someone else. That could explain the similarities.

Whatever, if we never get a definitive one it is at least some way closer to it....

If only Daniel Craig could do a major film that the bigger companies would want to get a license for.... like Iron Man IV! LOL!

What surprised me was how many people were willing to give this artist an ego stroke after the screwing he gave several members here. Sold a head everyone assumed he did, and when it turned out way too big to be 1/6th scale made excuses (my friend sculpted it/it's the same size as SS heads) instead of correcting the error. His sculpt is going in the right direction, but as pixelpiper stated it wont be available so who cares? As it has played out over the last several pages everyone has a different opinion of which available Craig is best. Buy the one you like and hold onto it until something better comes along.

Actually this already happened. The movie was the Golden Compass, althought it didn't turn out to be the money farm the producers were expecting. One of the few licensed Craig figures was the one Tonner did for Golden Compass. The likeness got Tonner/Barbied up so it probably shouldn't count.

Well, I hope so!

So far, it hasn't shipped out yet! BTW, I agree with Pixelpiper. It is a resculpting of the Roadshow. Check the wrinkles. I've always thought the face on the roadshow was great, it was the shape of the head that was wrong. Here, we still have the good parts with a resculpting of what's wrong, though still slightly too elongated.

However, I don't share his optimism about the color. I'm afraid this is the color of the resin, much like the Matt Damon we had a few years back.

As for the ZCWO, if its been pushed back, I think it might be for the good cause. We've never seen close ups and this thing is a limited run, so maybe they are tweaking it?

Re: OFFICIAL JAMES BOND THREAD

The more I look at it I'd say it was definitely by the same sculptor, there are too many differences for it just to be a plain mod of that actual sculpt.

If you remember, the sculpt of Connery that they did had similarities with the Craig so it's the sculptor's style that is coming across. Luckily it seems as though it suits this Daniel Craig.

It is also vinyl, just as the original Roadshow head was, anyhow, we'll find out soon enough. As for elongation, I'm not so sure. Here's the other pics from the auction page:
