Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

I'm glad he admitted that, because many of the Pandora creatures are lifted almost right out of John Carter of Mars. The design of AVATAR isn't original, either (HALO is in there as well).

He did NOT rip off design elements from Halo. Are they similiar? Yes, but only because Halo stole elements from a bunch of Cameron movies, and Cameron always did have a specific design-style.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

I've gotten past the "originality" argument on this. I still had a great time watching it and was totally mesmerized by it.

That said, this is not one of my favorite films; I won't collect anything from it, nothing in it design-wise really stuck with me, I won't be seeing it a second time, and I have only mild interest in a sequel. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but I didn't find the "world" as immersive as the experience of seeing it.

I've read that many people enjoyed it second time even more. maybe you should consider watching it one more time in 3D, maybe it even improves.

I really liked the movie, and I will be watching it for one more time on the big screen, but in few weeks when (and if) hype goes down a bit :)

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

If I was more interested in the world of Avatar I certainly would see it again and again. It just didn't resonate with me beyond that initial viewing which I must say really impressed me. But I think most of that was due to the 3D and the novelty of the 1st viewing. Looking back now, there's lots of stuff I don't want to sit thru again. I'd love to see the last 40 minutes again though.

Don't get me wrong, I very much enjoyed it... but for me it hasn't made a lasting impression, even though it certainly is groundbreaking and will inevitably be the number one movie of all time. But so was Titanic and ET and neither really swept me away for very long even though the world embraced both at their times.

Saw it again last night in Imax 3D! The audience yet again ruined some of it...there was a guy who kept yelling out "AVATAR!" and "WELCOME TO THE 3RD DIMENSION!" There was also some dude who didn't shower for a few days...yet it was an amazing film.

Anyone see the amazing Hubble 3D trailer before the movie...man that looks awesome.
