What is perfect?
Pick any other movie in exisitence and people will pick apart flaws, or die trying lol

Just accept it people. It made a lot of money, tons of people saw it, tons of people love, it's going to win awards.
And nothin you can do about it lol

And Snake just knows what it is to enjoy a movie for what it is and keep the young kid inside him. I'm the same way. This movie got me excited to go to the movies again. Saw it 3 times myself.

Tons of people saw and loved Transformers 2. Should that win awards?

BRAVO BRAVO !

Couldn't have said it better myself.
This film brings the kid in me.

Guys ! its ok to feel like a kid again.
Let it go and have fun in life.

LIFE IS SHORT ! learn to enjoy it.

At least it didn't win for best song... that terrible "I see you" song at the end made it hard to sit through the credits :lol

Is it your belief that no one does or has?

Of course not; I'm generalizing. But it's hardly a movie with lasting impact on our pop culture. People don't talk about it much anymore. My point is that these things (box office rankings) are ephemeral. They don't really mean anything after the fact - especially nominal box office. So you can have a juggernaut like Titanic that basically fades from the public consciousness like a wave receding from shore. As opposed to something like Star Wars, which continues to have an absolutely massive pop culture impact a generation after the fact.

You're right. The movie wont be remembered forever. I dont think it'll have that everlasting fanbase like Star Wars or Star Trek.

Unless they make a ton more.....

which I think is likely. I personally can see this having a huge fan base. Dare I say Camerons biggest at the end of it all ?.
How many women watch Aliens and terminator ?.

Not really a valid comparison ............. films like Avatar seem to come along every year (quality/wow factor) because of both technology and vast competition whereas films like Star Wars or Trek were the first of its kind back in its day.

It doesn't mean Avatar is anything less in terms of quality/wow factor compared to SW's or Trek.

Which is sad. Really sad. Terminator and Aliens are his masterpieces.
ABSOLUTELY!

That's another good point. I wish I was alive when Star Wars came out....:(

Indeed. I used to play Star Wars all the time around my house. Had all the toys, the sabers, the costumes......good times.

Hell, even Episode One had great memories for me.

Well then there you have it .......... nastalgic childhood memories >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> anything delivered today.

Am I right?
Yes, and that's why I edited my post above.

But... while the FX and Pandora design are simply stunning, breathtakingly beautiful and extremely well done, the storyline and human characters are weak.

SW- Although dated is still, to me, a much stronger movie.

I wonder about that re: Avatar. Are kids buying the toys? I don't think it was a bad movie by any stretch, but I can't escape the feeling nobody but geeks will care about this thing in five or 10 years, and "Na'vi" will be relegated to a trivia answer.

Everyone seems over Transformers 2.

Good point.

It's gonna be remembered for the amazing FX, which it should! but not for being a masterpiece.
