Most of the Pixar movies are genuinely really good movies for both kids and adults -- there is character depth, clever storylines, jokes that appeal to all ages, etc.

Very much agreed, while Avatar might be nominated for writing awards; UP truly struck a chord with me, I mean how many animated films can make a grown adult weepy-eyed? :dunno

My Grandfather had died just before I saw Up, so you can imagine how hard it was for me not to just break down in the Movie Theater.

Even though Avatar is a deserving best picture winner, I do think there are other movies that deserve the awards when it comes to screenplay.

I would LOVE for UP to win Best Picture. If I had to choose one, I'd choose that one. It's pretty much a perfect movie. But unfortunately, I don't think that will happen :(

I really loved UP and the folks at Pixar deserve any Oscar they can get.

I still need to see Moon, Hurt Locker and Up in the Air. I wouldn't give Best Picture to Avatar, although there's no way it won't at least be nominated.

Up was such a sad movie, Probaly the saddest movie i have ever seen in a long time. Really struck a nerve at the begining.

So is avatar closer to beating titanic or is it a long way from now. And does anybody on this thread even like avatar ? I see alot of people belittling it.

This was one of the best years for movies in a while....for me atleast.

District 9
Watchmen
Inglorious Basterds
Up
Drag Me To Hell

I havent seen Up IN the Air, or The Hurt Locker, but I'm sure i'll like atleast one of those.

Coraline is another. That movie deserves more credit.

Yes. :lecture '9' was also pretty good. Neither are on the level of UP, though.

Where's Watchmen? :lol

Around 7 or 8 or so (The Ultimate Cut or Director's Cut... the Theatrical version, while pretty good, wouldn't make my Top 10 for 2009).

See people, it is possible to be a fan but not a fanboy. :lol
