Somewhere deep down, I believe that James Cameron knows that his ex-wife actually made a better film last year (THE HURT LOCKER).

I do find it a bit curious that you seem to really hate this movie and yet were entertained by that dump of an Indy movie. :lol

He knows but he doesn't give a ____ because he is swimming in money.

He has even more creditability now that Fox will let him do whatever the hell he wants.
He has leverage with Fox, yes... but not necessarily credibility. That has to do with much more than just money. And if all he cares about is money, then fine. But I'd like to think not.

Here's the thing: I don't hate either of them. And if asked, I would say that AVATAR is the better movie. I just don't think it's that great or anything special and it wouldn't even crack my Top 5 of the year. On KOTCS, I still stand by my assertion that it's over-hated and not nearly as awful as some people think. It's far from great, too, and tied with LAST CRUSADE as my least favorite in the series. I just don't get the extreme hate. You see, hyperbole goes both ways. You're not going to try and win one over on me because I'm actually rational about this stuff, are you? :lol

No I assume that is not what Cameron likes to think about...but lets be honest that is ALL Fox cares about...money. Since Cameron can bring it in they will write that man blank checks.

Don't have too. I didn't think Avatar was that great. I gave it a 7 out of 10. Saw it again this weekend and I stand by that. Will the possible sequel be better? I actually think that movie has potential.

I agree with all of that, actually. And I might even give AVATAR a 7.5 or 8 out of 10. And that's a good movie. But there are folks out there who see the face of God in the flick or something. And I just don't get it. There were easily 5+ better films in 2009, imho. And even they don't warrant the type of attention and fanatical devotion that this movie is getting.

How many of those 5 films were catered to children? Really when you think about it, Avatar caters to kids before adults imo. I agree though, there were better films in 2009.

Yea right thier has only been a few good movies this year imo.

I didnt really care for watchman
I liked wolverine, but thats my opnion

salvation sucked

tf2 sucked

district nine was awesome

Inglorious was rather boring.

Actually, that may effectively articulate my biggest problem with the movie. It came off almost exclusively as a kiddie movie -- no complexity, one-dimensional caricaturish characters, simplistic storyline, and it had a political message that could've come from a 6th-grade earth day essay (what if we were all more peaceful and nature-loving? Kumbaya.).

The Princess and the Frog had more depth.

Well, no one's ever going to accuse you of watching a lot of different types of movies. :lol

I wont be watching the princess and the frog like you guys :)

I guess its the title that doesnt interest me

I have a 5-year-old little girl ... so it tends to not matter much whether it interests me. Haha. I am the proud owner of a library full of princess and princess-related movies (Enchanted, Princess Diaries, Cinderella, Cinderella 2, Little Mermaid, Little Mermaid 2, Little Mermaid 3, Sleeping Beauty, Tinkerbell, Tinkerbell 2, Beauty/Beast, Aladdin ... etc., etc., etc.).

Yeah, I went reluctantly (as did my son) because my 2 daughters dragged us to it (the trade-off was that we also went to AVATAR, which he wanted to see). I actually quite enjoyed PRINCESS AND THE FROG. Much more so that I'd expected. It definitely has that old school retro Disney feel to it.

I never saw it as a problem more than I did a common strategy. I personally don't understand the hype myself but while sitting in the theatre the kid next to me (maybe 10) clearly already saw the film and was viewing it again with his father. I could overhear him telling his father about some of the cool parts about to come. The theatre was packed with little kids. Not a new strategy but where the hype came from? No idea.

Still the film was really entertaining imo. Very well executed .......... just nothing really unique.

Actually, it is among the better of the princess gauntlet of movies that run 24/7 in my house. Its a relatively clever movie. The redhead is definitely worth a glance.

I don't mind movies that are kid-friendly. Most of the Pixar movies are genuinely really good movies for both kids and adults -- there is character depth, clever storylines, jokes that appeal to all ages, etc. Even some of the Muppet movies have intergenerational appeal.

I didn't get any intergenerational appeal from this. I can see why a kid would like it -- if I were 9, I probably would have too. But, once you go past the surface, there isn't much there.
