So your not a fanboy since your posting in a forum about a movie you dont even like the look of???

I dont mind the look of what ive seen. however it is not a mind-blowing as you guys are making it out to be. at least not what we've seen if it's not finished yet.

Why would i be a fanboy? Im not endlessly going out of my way to defend something that is not even out yet.

2 big points you have made there. I take it you have not seen it in the big screen be it Trailer or the Screening. Second it looks that amazing and its not yet finished so the finished product will be so much better. Cant wait to see if your opinon changes after you see it in the Theater (that's if you go)

Biggest problem I'm starting to notice here is - people and (supposed) movie fans, are never happy and going to complain, and be negative, just to rain on the parade of all us fans who are just looking forward to it. Why don't all those people start a "Avatar sucks and I'm not impressed" thread. Bottom line is, it's going to be a cool movie to see and something wild to view at the cinema.
At least this movie has me excited, makes me want to go to the movies, and makes me want to see it more than once with different buddies. Rather than getting and watching movies, ahem, another way. :monkey3

If my OPINIONS are raining on your parade, you need to get more secure with yourself.

Well, Nash, if you only have the trailer, it would be very hard to actually judge it. So I cant blame you for feeling the way you do. But I can tell you, from someone who's seen the 16 minutes, that the creatures feel real, rather then look it.

Beowulf had the look, but lacked the soul. The Na'vi have the soul. The emotion you get from these characters feels very real. The way the talked, and how their eyes moved, were perfect. Nothing like Beowulf at all. Atleast thats what I got from the 16 mins.

Now it's about insecurity? lol See what I mean? You just can't let it go lol
Always negative and now a personal attack. lol
Whatever dude. We're just talking about a movie.
So there. That's my OPINION to your opinion. lol

Excellent point :)

There's Pitu, changing the world's perspective on movies one movie at a time...lol

I'm here discuss the movie with other excited fans or shed some light to those who are just now hearing about it. I'm not going to battle someone who has a differing opinion, I just think its silly to personally attack people about a movie and their interest in it.

You have made your point now you can move on. Most of us here want to discuss the movie not bash a trailer as many ways as we can conjure. You clearly haven't seen any footage other than that so you haven't seen enough to make an informed decision whereas many of us have. I haven't seen the movie no, but I have seen 14 minutes more than you in Imax 3D and as many have stated-the characters are believable. Why wouldnt the movie be at least that good if not better when finished.

The argument that im defending a movie that I havent seen is absurd. Get over it.

2 minutes, 16 minutes, whatever. Everyone's opinion is valid.
Just because not everyone is in the cult doesn't mean they're being negative.

Correct, their opinion is valid. Never said they weren't. But when they start making fun of other forum members and bullying them around its another issue. It shocks me that someone with that many posts by their name would do that.

I didn't realize liking Avatar and being excited about it meant you were in a cult.

Come on people. Lets stop all the bashing and get back to talking about the movie. Please

Ah yes, the cult of those of us who have seen the Imax footage :lol

Ill try to contain myself. I was simply defending myself from Nash who was making jabs about what he hasn't seen.

It's all good. I dislike premature praise and premature hatred equally. Healthy excitement and skepticism are where it's at.

Here's something I'm curious about -

I'm not really interested in Imax. Are there going to be options to see this otherwise?

I'm not dumping on the Imax experience but I actually find tradtional showings easier to digest. Plus, there are a lot of people who, for various reasons, will not be able to go to an Imax theater.

Your not alone, there are a lot of people who prefer just sitting down and watching movies in 2d. My nearest imax is over an hour away and besides Avatar day the only other film ive seen in imax was superman. The way they are presenting the 3D is impressive and does aid in the story telling but if your not into it thats fine because the majority of showings will be in all your normal theaters anyway.

So just like any other movie you will get to watch it in 2d at your local theater. I want to see it in both just to compare.

I don't think they are blue fairies...
more like blue Elves...:lol

Anyway...

Awesome :rotfl

"Don't cry, Cameron will never make that Spiderman treatment"

True dat.

I've been waiting for 12 years for Cameron to get back in the chair, excitedly, but I can't say the trailer has me salivating so far. I want to see this. I want it to be good. But I can't understand the sheer 'mind-blown' enthusiasm by some members here based on what's been shown. That said, I haven't seen the special 16 mins. But whether its 3D, 2D or sittin' in my living room, the Na'vi do nothing for me.

And this 'battle' over the next great movie-going experience is nothing new...

I remember the torrid of "T-4 is gonna rock, you're so wrong" praises from rabid fans earlier this year, now... not so much.

I remember when people were raving about "Superman Returns", even after they saw it once or, believe it or not, twice. Now, most of those 'true' fans have found great distaste with that movie, its star and its director.

Even when Avatar opens, even if its not so good, people will think it is. People will demand it is. We won't really know how Avatar will effect us all until about this time next year, once the desperate enthusiasm wears down a bit.
