I am waiting for lots to come out! I just don't choose to judge them before they do. This movie is one of those things that I can't wait for. I may make comments about what I have seen so far but I can't say its a bad movie. Either way I still can't wait for it. I really hope it's good!

Telling people to shut up in the real world might cause a "3D experience" to your face. Even mighty Sith lords like yourself should be careful!

Not if I turn around and beat them to it and punch their face from 3 Dimensions, to 1. Maybe it will implode on itself and create a blackhole. Then we're all doomed in that theatre...



I'll go out on a limb here and say...it looks like CGI. Then again, I'm going to see a movie...wait for it...made with CGI. It's art, it's animation. I really don't care if the blue people just don't seem to "fit" into this world, because of how they "look".

That's where I think it's kinda cool. The human characters look fantastic. I can't tell if they are real or CGI or what. There I think they did a fantastic job with the CGI and real life blend.

The Level of CGI and Compositing in this movie is Unreal. I have never seen anything like it which is why i was in awe. the Matte paintings are ridiculous cause you dot know whats real whats CG or if its literally a painting. The Animation of every CG character is insane. it does not look 3D especially in the Navi. it is amazing. This is an Oscar winning movie in the FX field for sure.Just like pics of a Statue no Trailer in a computer screen is going to make it Justice. This needs to bee seen on a Theater or Bluray.

Cause the Mocap & Animation for this movie is 100 times better than that crap thats why. In Beowulf the animation is not realistic like Avatar's 3D characters.

I'll dare to say it....get ready for "Waterworld"...in other words, a huge, expensive bomb that Cameron, the studio and the hardcore "JC can do no wrong!" camp will spin into a "hit" no matter what the dom BO ends up being...

I'm sorry, but this just looks awful. From the Gungun-Smurf-Cat people to the endless stream of deja-vu designs and images (slap rotors on the HKs-check! Turn Ripley's powerloader into a metal-clad Hummer suit-check! Unplug the light-bright soapdish people from "The Abyss" and paint them blue-check! Add not-so-subtle class warfare "forbidden love" ala "Titanic"-check!) to the sagging, been-there "tech bad! green good!" message, this doesn't seem as inspired as one would expect from the "artist" who brought us "Terminator" and "The Abyss"...

There seems to be a bigger focus on the 3D and motion-capture aspect of the movie than anything else so....I guess it will be safe to say it might be a real pretty car wreck...

I'd love to be wrong here....but based on what's been shown so far, I think lowering expectations down a bit might make whatever this turns out to be a more enjoyable movie....

Motion capture has nothing to do with it. This is meant to look photo realistic whereas Beowulf was not. The actual animation looks great in both, but this one is rendered more realistically and has more detail.

Granted the final product is not finished, but from the preview the animation looked just as good as beowulf imo. I agree that there is definitely more rendered detail in the CGI than beowulf, which tells me that they 'want' Avatar to have a 'more' realistic visual feel, however it is not like what some of you are making it out to be. from what some of you are saying, someone who hasnt seen the trailer would think that the creatures are rendered to look like a real breathing person and not CGI. Honestly I wasnt blown away with the CGI in the preview and I would never have known that they were trying to accomplish such a revolutionary creation had i not read this thread.
