Yep got the same thing this morning but i don't think the t-shirt would fit not that i'd ever wear something like that anyway. :rotfl

I'm convinced that Avatar brings out the worst in people. See above posts. :lecture:lol

Some people can get analytical and philosophical about pretty much any movie. I've even read a (serious) thesis about THE LAND BEFORE TIME (!!!!). Eh. Let 'em. It's only when I read/see terms like "best" bandied about that I feel like throwing down some Rationality Sauce.

It is indeed open to interpretation, it could be a highly evolved biological entity or it could be some kind of real pantheistic pandora-based goddess. The movie is definately spiritual just not tied to any specific religion in my opinion.

Not a specific religion exclusively but it does have Biblical themes.

I think Tsu Tsey already gave up leadership when Jake became the new Toruk Macto; a holy kind of warrior. Jake asks Tsu Tsey for the permission to speak but in my opinion that is just a form of respect (to become true Omaticaya brothers again).

I'm not convinced that Tsu Tey was prepared to defer to Jake's leadership permanently. It made sense for Jake to lead the attack against the humans but like the assistance of his new beastie, it would have most likely dissolved after the fight.

That is true, but as you can see earlier in the film, Jake's brain activity seems to be quite unique, that combined with being a skilled warrior in a Avatar body and having a pure heart gives him the traits to lead Pandora to a brighter future. His entire being presents an opportunity for victory and peace. He is chosen in advance because Eywa SEES Jake.

A perfectly valid interpretation. I like that its kind of like Total Recall (with regard to whether the whole movie was a dream or not) in that there really is enough evidence to make a strong case either way (in Avatar's case whether or not Ewya is biological or supernatural.) Hopefully Cameron doesn't spell it all out in upcoming commentaries, but I assume he will.

When Neytiri is saying that Eywa doesn't take sides she not really aware that the balance of the entire planet is at stake. When Eywa learned about the human destruction of earth it became much more than Na' Vi culture versus the company, it became human greed (imbalance) vs life on Pandora (balance).

I can go with that. I still think that Ewya specifically wanted Jake in charge, so in addition to battling the humans she did kind of pull the rug from under Tsu Tey.

Some people can find something to criticize about pretty much any movie.

So what movie do you think is the "best" of all time?
