I'd rate Ingmar Bergman, Terrance Malick, Krzysztof Kieslowski with those you have mentioned.

Also great filmmakers, but I personally wouldn't say they have an overall body of work that competes with the others on my list. I mean, Malick made what... a total of 5 films in a 40+ year span? And not all of those were amazing. Bergman made a lot of films, but really how many of the others come close to reaching the genius of THE SEVENTH SEAL? I like Kieslowski, too, but he's definitely an acquired taste type of filmmaker & storyteller.

But again, to each their own. Certainly none of these guys are slouches, though. All solid filmmakers worthy of praise and respect.

Yeah but those five movies are the most beautifully shot films. The Seventh Seal would make my top ten. Love that movie and have it on BD. Must sit down and watch it again.

Bought the Blu-Ray the day it came out. Guess I'll finally watch this movie eventually.

I've personally never liked lumping in classic directors with modern directors on lists so I usually keep them separate, but there are some great names being tossed around. Having said that. Any list that doesn't have my man below in it is wrong

Just Watched this amazing film on DVD, doesnt compare to seeing it at the IMAX 3D Midnight show. But still, the movie is visually stunning! In my top 5 of all times hands down! Bravo to Mr. James Cameron! Hot Toys figures are a must!!!!

That's what he said. You want to discuss the movie, go right ahead. You want to rip on people for their own personal tastes ad nauseum, be prepared to see your posts deleted. You've said your piece on where you personally rank Avatar. If you have nothing more to add then its time to move on.

Hey, i'm still learning. I cant know everything yet :D

Honestly i've never heard of the guy. Dont think of it as a knock towards him...I just never heard his name brought up by really anyone.

So now, I am enlighted, and will check this fella out.

It's kinda weird, a this talk of prestigious directors and their films in this Avatar thread. Avatar is like the anti-Solaris.

Trolling. LOL! **deleted** :lol

But you ARE bashing someone for their personal opinion. That it sucks is your opinion- not fact, as you state.
I for one also love this movie and enjoy it. So does Solidsnake here on the boards. My 8 year old kids also think this movie rocks ass over the Star Wars movies I introduced them too. Wanna fight us? :D
