Well it was pretty unnecessary post. This thread was going fine with actual conversation about the DVD and then it just tanks because of stupid ass comments for NO reason.

CelticP IS a kid (literally, he's a teenager) praxitas so I wouldn't worry about it too much. He's probably just upset that his parents are only going to let him watch the PG version from now on.

Obscene language can on occasion. For instance, John McClane just isn't John McClane without the f-bombs. Die Hard 4 was great, but they tamed the language for the PG-13, and it softened the character a bit.

Those that criticize unoriginal Avatar's unoriginality are unoriginal in their criticism. They merely piggyback on those of us who originally noticed Avatar's unoriginality. We are the "Dances With Wolves" of Avatar criticism ... they are merely the "Avatar" of Avatar criticism.

I thought the definition of a broken record was that it could not run its course.

Well, I'll make a small confession and reveal that I only saw Avatar last night in HD at home.
Without a doubt the most visually stunning movie Ive ever seen.
I regret not seeing it in 3d at a public showing.
The one dimensional portrayal of the marines/mercs and corporate types was regrettable as was the overly simplistic "message."'
But the richness of digital imagination covered a multitude of story line sins.
In this day and age its much harder for the story to keep up with the visual feasts that can be created
with software and silicon chips. Only once in a very great while is the story equal to or greater than its f/x.
The LOTR trilogy and Blade Runner are the only movies I can think off that the story holds its own with the visuals.
Perhaps the Earth scenes can add some additional weight.

Its so easy to be jaded and dismissive in this day and age (I'm surely guilty of this)
But Cameron continues to do what only a few directors still can:
Hold your attention to the point that you dont dare look away for fear of missing something amazing.

SO What exactly is the real difference between the DVD Collectors edition and the blu-ray collectors editiion??? i dont have a blue ray, only a dvd, but im a huge avatar fan so i want the best.
