And here is the pot calling the kettle black. Just sayin. Calling a teenager a kid and then making mommy daddy references is surely an insult.
How is that calling the kettle black? I never said "don't make fun of teenagers" I said don't junk up the thread with unfunny and incorrect trolling statements about the movie that have been parroted more than a hundred times already.
I cant wait, I really regret spending money on the normal version.
Badmoon comparing scenes in Avatar to those from other films isn't taboo but if it comes across as trolling it'll be deleted. I'll tell you what I meant by "incorrect" a little later on tonight (sorry, "real life" is calling.) I hear you about the fanboy comment, but we know that due to the film's success and attention seeking instigators this thread can go downhill fast. Just trying to prevent that.
Did you see the stampede in theaters? It really flowed better with Jake's "I was a stone cold aerial hunter" dialogue much nicer than the original cut, IMO.

Assuming you've watched Avatar a few times already at home you've already broken even when you consider its what, five bucks to rent a movie these days? Plus the bare bones release will still give better picture quality for the original cut of the movie compared to the one included in the upcoming collector's set.
Though I do admit I'll personally most likely watch just the re-release cut from now on (loved the new version even better than the first.)

It is...but i'm not offended. It's stupid to get offended over something on a message board.
SO What exactly is the real difference between the DVD Collectors edition and the blu-ray collectors editiion??? i dont have a blue ray, only a dvd, but im a huge avatar fan so i want the best.
there isn't other than 1 is bluray & the other is DVD
Meh, the similarities speak for themselves. And it isn't "other" films. Only a select few that it pretty much matches up with about 80%.
Didn't see it. I will in November though!
Incorrect. It is indeed "other films," or more specifically, universal themes often showcased in films. Fish out of water, hero on a quest, civilized man in a primitive society, Romeo and Juliet, etc. Those are themes that predate the entire medium of film. The way Avatar introduces the setting's conflict, and the way the conflict is resolved, couldn't be more different than its supposed inspirations.
All you really have with these types of "criticisms" is a movie that's an enormous success that demands that attention seekers (even those who profess to like the movie) poke at it. Pretty much every level of the production (acting, directing, writing, visuals) is at least competent to the point that it doesn't leave much to rally against.
All that was really deemed to be "fair game" were its supposed derivativeness and its "fans." Keep posting one of five pictures on the net of people painted blue and a dude eating a pizza in an auditorium and a mock summary of Pocahontas/Avatar with everything that actually defines each individual picture crossed off in favor of the universal themes shared by both and you've got an instant crowd of virtual high fivers.
It was weak then and its weak now. Lots of people have said, "Cool looking movie but eh, a bit predictable" (or whatever less than worshipping opinion) and then moved on. There's no reason to keep beating the drum that Avatar borrows more than any other movie (certainly any epic hero movie) especially when its quite literally untrue.
I can write a summary of Rocky crossing off important names and events and make it look like Star Wars. Or make Pocahontas look like it aped The Karate Kid Part II. But that's stupid. And quite uninspired. So there you go.
Well you're in for a treat then. I'm not typically a fan of Cameron's longer SE cuts (prior to Avatar his only SE that actually improved the original was The Abyss) but the new cut really had some nice new scenes in it.
