interesting... in the 60 minutes interview, when cameron is asked whether he's ever crossed the line from being demanding to being impossible, he responded with some hesitation, before admitting: "maybe in the early days, when i lacked perspective. where the picture was everything. not recently."

has he mellowed in his old age? which could also mean he's lost his razor-sharp creative edge? hope not.

I think we're safe.:D Watched Sam Worthington being interviewed on a local talk back show over here last week.

He mentioned that any mobile phones that went off during shooting would soon meet Mr Camerons nail gun and the wall.:lol

Ultimately and i think most of us would agree in the end it doesn't matter how good the effects are it will come down to story line on whether this film is really a success.

After watching the 60 mins interview Cameron seems to be pretty confident in regard to that so we will just have to wait and see.

Thats just it. Several members of the cast and crew have been asked in interviews if they think the hype will kill the movie or live up to it in any way. Every single one responded confidently that under normal circumstances it would hurt their cause but this is a rare achievement and will blow audiences away and thus deserving of the hype.

I think we are in for a real treat. And yes, its all about story but with Cameron being the caliber director he is and this being his Opus, Im sure he has a great emotional story in there.

Sigourney Weaver was quoted as saying when she saw a rough cut of the movie, even without the final soundtrack or effects-she cried for 15 minutes!!!

Don't know if anyone has posted this yet, but thought you guys might enjoy this shot of "GI James" in action. :D

So tonight at Thanksgiving dinner, my cousins were telling me how Avatar is a rip off from all these other sources, and named some. Some I don't remember, but I specifically recall them saying that the ships look almost identical to those in Halo or some video game like that. I don't play Halo, so I wouldn't know. They refuse to see the movie because of how much of a rip off it seemed to be.

Eh. All "will-it-live-up-to-the-hype" hype aside its a big-budget colorful new 3D action movie experience. Dec 18th right? Just when I get the kids for X-Mas! We are going to see it I know they will love it.

It's weird how for months we didn't hear anything about this movie... and suddenly we're overflowed with clips, pics and spoilers...
I won't watch any more clips... I'll just wait for the movie to come out!

SPOILER of sorts.............

So have you guys heard this is a

trilogy.:)

Thanks Arannz.:D

You should tell them that Halo ripped off Aliens, and that Cameron is just sticking to his style.

Pretty awesome featurette on creating the flying scenes on banshees:

First I have seen the official rating - PG-13, not more than a foregone conclusion though I suppose.

the ship's designs in avatar resembles the design of the dropship from aliens. like Ra88 pointed out, cameron's just being consistent. his aliens is actually very influential in the gaming world. space marines with big guns? shooting down aliens/monsters down dark alley ways? in fact, ripley in aliens and sarah connor in T2 is the original tough chick with gun that has spawned the likes of lara croft, the girls of R:E, etc.

tell your friends they're idiots if that's the reason they're missing the movie.

I agree, they're being lame. I think if they'd watched some of the "Making Of" featurettes and saw what was really going into this movie, they would change their minds.

I've watched that banshee flying clip several times now, and it's just amazing what they've done.
