Sorry, with a name like Kit Fisto, it just screams 'prequel' fan. Anyway, I consider myself a BIG ballsniffer of Cameron's, I've enjoyed most of his movies with the exception of Titanic and Abyss(yawn), just not my kind of movies. But hey, Titanic must have been good, it won 11 Academy awards right? Just because 'we' Cameron fans enjoy most of his movies doesn't mean to say we take his workmanship for granted or bow to his every creation. If Avatar is not an enjoyable movie, I'll say so, but only after I see it. Until then, I'm pretty much in neutral territory.
It's just totally stupid when someone says 'this movie is going to suck balls' without even seeing it in the first place. All it shows is shear ignorance and a low level of IQ (this comment isn't targeted towards you Fisto).

My IQ is 129 thanks. I have said ( obviously you're too blind or stupid to read ) that this movie may be great, but that I refuse to call it a "masterpiece" before I see it. I have seen the previews and it does not look like something I will enjoy. I will see it on DVD eventually and will judge it then. My issue is with people like you who have already decided that it's a "work of art" from some lousy ( IMO ) previews.

If you can't see people in this thead already calling this film a masterpiece before seeing it then your a blind homer ( sport fan reference ). I never once said this movie is going to "suck balls". I don 't know if it's good or lousy yet. I base my initial thoughts on the previews, but will reserve final judgement until I see it eventually. Many on the opposing side have already set their minds to "masterpiece" though. Whatever.

For those who aren't seeing it in theatres, I think you're doing yourself a disadvantage because you're not seeing it in the format it was intended to be seen in: 3D, or more specifically, IMAX 3D.

I also think you're being deliberately stubborn, especially now that his is getting rave reviews, but that's just me. :huh

ARGH! I just bought my tickets for an IMAX showing on Friday, and I totally forgot how ridiculous Fandango's "convenience" fee is for IMAX tickets. Freaking $2.25! Per person! Highway robbery, I say!

I bought the tickets. Thank goodness I watch IMAX films fairly infrequently (2-3 times a year, if that).

The people who say they are not going to see this - Are you honest to god telling me you won't have any time or desire to see it during the X-mas holiday at all with the time off? You'll just sit at home and wait for the DVD?

Your buddy calls you up and asks if you are free and want to go check out this flick, even a matinee and you are going to say no?

Lies.

Geez, I even got talked into going to see New Moon. lol But hey, in the end didn't mind, because I like to get out and enjoy the movie going experience.

DOOD, even if you dont like the blue cats you still get about 30% live action in this movie reminiscent of aliens. Not to mention the last 1/3 of the movie has the largest scale battle ever seen on screen.

Im sure it will be awesome LW but i'm somewhat doubtful that it will be bigger than the battle in ROTK.

Whilst i'm really looking forward to the film and are listening to a few people who have seen it rather than the critics i still have no doubt there will still be varying opinions after people have seen the film.

Cant believe some are you guys are falling for Shai's bait just let it go.:lol

I know someone has already put up a few of the Golden Globe Nominations but heres the full list including yes you got it best song and score.:D

Best Picture, Drama: Avatar
Best Director: James Cameron, Avatar
Best Song: “I Will See You,” Avatar
Best Score: Avatar

dude wtf is with people judging the movie by the previews, Truth be told i didnt think The Dark knight would be good judging by the previews but then i watched it and i was blown away.

Another thing who cares about the song nobodies forcing you guys to listen to it and it sounds like the titanic song a little.

I will see this in the theater. But that's me. I passed up on TONS of movies this summer. I have been watching them all on BluRay. The most recent was Harry Potter. I skipped out on Terminator, Transformer, GI JOE, Inglorious Basterds, and many others. What does it matter to you what people do with their time? For ????s sakes this is becoming worse than any Star Wars thread. Just because someone isn't interested at first or can't go see it doesn't make them a troll. I see more trolls in this room just based off of biased fan boy crap. Who the ???? cares what who the ???? cares. All of you shut the ???? up! I have spoken. :lol

:lol To the resident Cameron extremists, displaying apathy or reserving judgment is the same as bad-mouthing the movie. Besides Shai, no one is showing blind hatred.

Been reading the snippets on Rotten Tomatoes, this movie will be what we all expected: Fantastic visuals with a weak story. People don't want to believe it is Episode I all over again, but alas, it could very well be so.

Honestly I will probably enjoy this movie a lot! I say probably because I haven't seen it yet. I will NOT say this sucks, or that it is great. I simply don't know. The blind leading the blind though in either camp is rather retarded.

shai is a troll. the rest are just being stubborn, like agen_kolar pointed out.

i dont remember episode 1 being nominated for best picture. does anybody?

unknown leads, classic story of good vs evil, groundbreaking sfx... sounds more like star wars new hope to me. if you guys were not yet born when sw first exploded out of the theaters in 1977, this is your best bet to feel that same experience.

Some people are excited , others aren't. People say it will suck , people say it will be great. :dunno
This happens with every movie. I personally think this is going to be great. :rock

why are people so afriad that this might actually be good ?

There is a difference between being "afraid it is good" and going into a movie without a preconceived notion that the movie is a "masterpiece." I'm the latter.

I am genuinely interested in how this movie will change the way movies are made. The last time this happened we had the proliferation of "bullet time" into every movie after the Matrix came out. Yuck.

Yea but i see alot of haters on here saying how it will suck when they havent seen it at all.

from chud:
But it does and make no mistake, this is a film worthy of being mentioned in the same breath as The Matrix and The Lord of the Rings. It's epic, visionary, breathtaking, and as immersive as any tentpole film in recent memory.

And no trailer, teaser, or sizzle reel can do it justice until you see it living and breathing on a very big screen in 3-D. As I sat in the theater my doubts, suspension of disbelief, and cynicism melted away as Pandora came to life and took me in her arms.

that same initial doubt was shared by many critics. roger ebert was not impressed when he saw the avatar day footage, he thought of 3D as a gimmick. but did you read his avatar review lately?

watching this film on dvd is your prerogative. just dont come here and say you're being unbiased if you do that. not that i believe it for one second that anybody here will stay away from the theater for this movie.

Sorry but you are just as stubborn as the people that say they won't see it. And IMO that makes you worse. As I have said I can't wait to see it. Would I go on a blind date and say before I meet the woman that I would eat the V? Nope! I need to know what I'm up for before I make that choice. Maybe you need more V? :lol

the tech built from scratch for this movie are: the dual lensed 3D camera, the performance capture system(as opposed to the mo-cap) for more accurate translation of an actor's performance onto a CG character, and the system to enable to see in REAL TIME how a CG effect would look like WHILE you're shooting it with the actors(as opposed to seeing it months later in post).

spielberg, jackson, soderberg, cuaron are some of names that are embracing this new tech. cuaron is even thinking of doing a small drama using the 3D camera. so yeah, i think the tech are here to stay and will change how movies are made.
