About two hours into the movie I was busting for a pee, but I was so glued to the screen I tied it in a knot!:lol
Glad I did, the big battle finale was only minutes away!:D

:rotfl

Yeah it was the same for me i hate it when that happens.

If only a "regular" sized Coke at the theatre wasn't larger than super-sized McDonalds...

After sleeping it off last night, I awoke still thinking about the movie, what parts really stuck with me and things I thought were pretty awesome about it. I find myself itching to see it again, which hasn't happened in a LONG time. I will definitely be taking another look at some of the toys that were released in stores. While not Sideshow/HT quality that AMP suit looked pretty cool, and since I'm primarily a 3 3/4" GI Joe collector it will fit in nicely.

Really, about the only negative point I can see with this movie is that certain parts were a little predictable - I will give the naysayers that one, but I don't think that means the story isn't solid and there were still a few surprises that I won't go into for sake of spoilers.

In the States and Canada everything at the movies to eat is massive and fatty as hell, just ask Billy Connolly about it lol!.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

I was blown away last night. Stunning, beautiful visuals. Intense action. And I cared about those people.

It was an awesome, jaw-dropping experience. Amazing movie.

hahahhahaha!! same here I was life FORGET IT ! I am not leaving this seat even watching the movie second time.

my friends just called me to organize IMAX show today or tomorrow !
Pumped again.

going for the 3rd time !

If this doesn't make a ton of money, it's not so much because it's a failure. It's just something new, that alot of people are not 100% sure about the film.
But because it does kick ass and turned out to be a good movie, if it garners a strong following, like other movies, the sequel is the one that will be anticipated and make more money. lol

I agree. No one at work knew what I was talking about. I intend on calling the local IMAX on Monday and requesting they add this. I'm sure others have called. The world is so cool I think Imax would really bring out all of the small details.

I saw this last night. Best movie I have seen in years. I FELT it, like I was there. I haven't see any of the newer 3-D movies, so the whole thing was overwhelming for me. I loved it.
Hope to see it a lot more too. I can't see how this can be seen at home on a TV, even the nicer ones. And not in 3-D. Cameron has forever spoiled me now. Going back to plain old 2-D seems sad.
I haven't felt like this, since I was a kid, and saw Wizard of Oz the first time. It was THAT interesting and entertaining a movie for me.
Hope everyone else enjoys it.

You've said how i feel about this film just an awesome experience and all for £11 :rock

I just seen the movie last night. Excellent movie. To me the story was solid like a rock. I think what some people had problems with is that this movie really dont have any stand out action scenes (for example, Terminator 1, the club scene, police chase and the ending) and the same for T2. Every scenes flow together. The marine Navi wasnt a Rambo type but everybody work together against the corporation. The scene that stand out to me wasnt the action scenes but the dialogue; when Sigourney Weaver was talking about their land, the trees, how they all communicate together, spirits and when we dream were really living but when we supposely woke up not really living. Interesting talk. Maybe some people just couldnt process that information or found it boring but I find that very interesting. Just my opinion.

I just saw itfor second time in IMAX, first was just digital 3-D. Maybe it was because first time I didn't know what to expect and the experience was newer, but I thought digital 3-D effects were more dramatic than IMAX. Both were great experiences.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

Amazing movie! :rock :rock :rock

Willming, your ignorance is astonishing. Keep your politics out of this thread...and BTW the drivel you wrote =

EPIC FAIL.

what do u mean by ignorant?

do you mean obama send 30000 more troops to afghan to use as a leverage to negotiate with the taliban, i understand why the country have to do it, what i don't understand is why people want to do it, it is a job to kill, if you have a choice will you become a butcher.

i think Avatar's hidden meaning beside being a great entertainment is disgust of war for benefit, the metal code for oil , well, the army code for private company like balckwater or well army.

Saw it. Loved it. It kind of felt like a kick ass Fern Gully: The Last Rain Forest, but overall, was a solid movie with some of the best special effects EVER!

One thing that bugged me was that James Horner reused his own music from Enemy at the Gates... but oh well.

I would love to see it again but its too dang expensive to see movies over and over at the theater.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

watched it thurs nite in 3D. here's my 2 cents'...

on a purely technical level, this is a masterpiece. cameron has succeeded wildly beyond expectations in realizing a fully-formed and intricate world that is completely believable and thus, wholly immersive. in fact, i'd go as far as to say the 3D isn't even necessary for the viewing experience. it enhances your immersion in this world, but the genuine sense of awe and wonder that consumes you as you soak in all the minute details are more than sufficient in good ol' 2D. it is just mind-blowing when you realize that everything from the flora & fauna to the mecha, are actually all non-existent and willed into "reality" by cameron and his army of technicians.

and whatever scorn about the look of the na'vi becomes a non-issue a few minutes into watching them onscreen. they are as good as living, breathing beings with real emotions and distinct personalities. i absolutely adored neytiri. she is both spirited and sensual, which is due to equal contributions by the cg artists as well as zoe saldana's performance. in fact, she far outshines sam worthington's jake sully in every scene together.

and the geek in me was pretty happy to see sigourney back in a cameron film. she still rocks!

if only the story held up to the brilliance of the visuals. at best, the story is predictible and overly-familiar. those who sumed it up as "dances with aliens" are pretty spot on. u can pretty much tell what's coming next with every turn of the plot. and some of the action is a little underwhelming, to be honest.
(eg: the final showdown between quaritch and jake)
not cameron's strongest work in edge-of-your seat action set pieces. but still light years better than indecipherable crap like transformers2. i can best sum up what cameron did with the story in avatar as "reinventing The Cliche". he took tired themes/characters and relocated them to a darn interesting environment. so in that way, it doesn't seem so bad after all. and it's certainly not the train wreck the naysayers predicted.

on the whole, i say this is a good, solid film, but not a great one. to me, it sits somewhere in the middle of his body of work.

i think you made a great review of it without blind fanatism.Thanks.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

I saw it last night, it was utterly jaw dropping !, it was more like watching a dream than a movie, i've never seen a movie with such vivid visuals.
I'm 38 & have seen christ knows how many films i've seen at the cinema but this was the very first time i've seen a movie that (in the UK) recieved a round of applause from the audience at the end - people were that blown away by it !.

I applauded at the end...nobody else joined in. Miserable english emotion-less robots.
(i hate this country)

ames Cameron Talks Avatar Blu-ray Plans
Posted December 18, 2009 10:47 AM by Juan Calonge

In the interviews given to promote Avatar, which opens in theaters today, James Cameron has already given a few tips on the Blu-ray of his latest movie epic. The filmmaker said that the BD will include over ten minutes of deleted scenes, and also that the initial Blu-ray release of 'Avatar' "probably won't be in 3-D", and there will be another edition with 3-D support in late 2010.

Cameron told MTV that the discarded footage gave added background on the native Na'vi people of Pandora. "It's all wonderful stuff, but it was sort of bogging down the middle section of the movie," Cameron said. "So there's plenty for a value-added DVD experience on this film. Of course, we'll have to go punch it all up and get it all mixed and stuff like that." There is also a trial ritual where, to become one of the clan, Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) must hunt a local beast.

With regard to whether the Blu-ray release would include 3-D or not, Cameron said: "Probably the initial Blu-ray release of Avatar won't be in 3-D and then a subsequent release will be in 3-D. That's my guess right now. So we will probably put out a disk, you know, in six or eight months, let's call it six months, and then after that we will have a 3-D disc when there are enough sets available."

This will mean that, when released, that BD will utilize the Blu-ray 3D specification (see blu-ray.com, December 17).

Cameron is highly enthusiastic about 3-D, in theaters and at home, as you can see in this interview he gave for Attack of the Show:

A good portion of the military doesn't join because they "want to kill people". They join because they legitimately want to try and help their country and others.

Unfortunately, the brainwashing that follows after enlistment is what turns them into killing machines who have no purpose or training other than killing other living beings to accomplish the goals of the people giving them orders. It's drilled and pounded into their brains to unquestioningly follow the orders given to them by their superiors, no matter the cost. Their willingness to do what they think helps their country is manipulated by the smooth talkers in power who will do anything to keep that power and/or obtain more.

Sure, there are people who enlist just so they can kill people that aren't like them. The same can be said for any job that puts you in a position of power over people. The real problem is the leadership and government that has no qualms about killing scores of people to achieve what they want. The only thing to blame the soldiers for is lacking the ability to say no or resist the brainwashing and see through the facade of "do it for your country!" for what it really is.

Avatar was amazing.
