Well considering the Avatars are created with human DNA then there would have been some differences. Look at Jack Sully...he has human hands (four fingers and a thumb) while the native Navi have 3 longer fingers and a longer thumb. So, it would make sense that the engineered Avatars will have some physical differences between Pandora's actual inhabitants. At least that's what my guess would be.

That was my guess as well... certain traits and features would carry over. Like shape of nose, and in this case the number of fingers an toes.

Not sure if it was done to help differentiate between who was who, or if they had a logical reason... but it didn't bother me.

Cool video shows some of the performace capture of Zoe's performance side by side with Neytiri on screen:

You're not the first to poop in the proverbial Cheerios.

As for your dislike of the 3D, I think you should read this article:
https://gizmodo.com/5430372/how-to-not-get-a-headache-during-avatar

I actually read that article before I saw the movie, I just kinda disregarded it. The problem was, I was looking all over the screen to see everything. That's kinda what I was getting at, the IMAX screen is too big for it's own good. I was sitting too far off to the side, so I think it skewed the picture.

Another one of Zoe's performance capture...man she's hawt...

That clip sounds dumb, what is she saying at 7-10secs? made me laugh.

...She was speaking Na'vi, methinks.

I've seen 3D films on IMAX before, and the large screen coupled with our eyes' natural instincts to absorb every present detail leads to eye strain or disorientation. Also, 3D movies tend to blur out background details (Avatar isn't the only one), opting to focus foreground objects or actors -- or whatever the director intends for us to focus on.

My eyes started to strain 2/3 into the film, but it's not something that I can detracted from my overall experience and enjoyment.

Weaver may have had some input into her Na'vi avatar and requested a smaller nose. But I'd agree that it was an oddity that detracted from the film.

I would agree that Gollum interacting with the real world was a bit more realistic. But there is still a long way to go in the technology. When they can create a CG human and have it interact with real humans and no one can tell the difference - that's when the tech will have truly arrived.

Ever see The Curious Case of Benjamin Button?

Granted it wasn't the whole person, but it was the most important parts.

Movie made another 16 million dollars Dom. on Monday, no doubt made up of alot of people on the east coast who missed out this weekend due to the snow storm. I really think this things going to have crazy legs for a while due to the positive word of mouth. Im def catching it again this week....

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

Im sorry but this movie was beyond epic. Its like movies that i dont expect to be good end up punching me with a fist covered in diamonds. This movie was awesome I've never been so struck by a movie since the lion king. This was truly an awesome movie. This has come second to The dark knight to my all time favorite movies.

Saw it in 3D today/yesterday(Damn IMAX was sold out!) and left with a headache. The storyline was okay, I guess. Will probably watch it again in a regular theatre to enjoy the scenes better.

Weavers AVATAR looks slightly younger and different from the rest because she was one of the first to have an AVATAR. I read that a while ago. That is why her AVATAR stopped aging but she didnt.

Ok ....

But aside from your end-all, be-all opinion; I like consistency in creature design. If they are a race of aliens, monkeys or humans, there should be a continuity to their overall appearance; it is as simple as that. I didn't say it ruined the film, but it was something that I immediately noticed and did take away some from the overall visual impact of the film.

*you may now resume your position firmly on Cameron's teet.* :wave

Once again, I read an interview where Weaver stated that her AVATAR was different from the rest because she was one of the first Na'vi/human hybrids. Her avatar also captured her younger age.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

Seeing it tomorrow. I got an AMP suit today. The design of this vehicle is just awesome. It's cool just to have on the shelf.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

I believe this AMP is way over priced in my opinion. If someone can show my why this 20" tall and probably plastic statue is worth $1200 I would really like to hear it.

Chris

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!
