Movie made another 16 million dollars Dom. on Monday, no doubt made up of alot of people on the east coast who missed out this weekend due to the snow storm. I really think this things going to have crazy legs for a while due to the positive word of mouth. Im def catching it again this week....

It made another 16 million Tuesday. I don't think it will end up second all time like lightwave thinks, but I am guessing it is going to do around 350-400 million since it definitely is going to have legs.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

I may be totally alone but I like the story even more than the effects. Sure the special effects are breathtaking, especially the Na'vi, but what will have me going back to watch it again and again is the connection I feel to the characters. It is a love story with a twist...and while I hate most love stories, this one really hit a nerve.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

Anyone know a good 3D theater in Los Angeles?

Amd someone answer this please: there's two choices at our IMAX - "Avatar 3D" and "Avatar: an IMAX 3D Experience". Is there a difference?

OK, so I'm eager to be a convert here, and I want to get the best experience possible, but my local IMAX has two versions...

Avatar 3D

and

Avatar: an IMAX 3D Experience

Which is better to see? I want this movie to do to me what it seems to have done to so many others.

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

Just saw it in 3D today. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! It's hopeful to see something like this come out, especially after losing 2 hours of life to Terminator Salvation, Terminator Salvation reminded me of Sci-Fi channel garbage. Really. I was skeptical concerning the 3D, but it was BRILLIANT...

This bodes well for ORIGINAL CONTENT at long last.

I'm so sick of sequels and reboots and rehash...

Ironically, everything that's getting redone was original at some point when it was a hit. Seems no one remembers that.

Definitely IMAX 3D Experience if you can get tickets! Thats what version I saw today and it was amazing. Wish I saw that version the first time around.

Loved the film (if not very predictable), but in IMAX 3d, when the transition period between human and avatar....the tunnel of electric impulses, I had to take off my glasses; craziness actually hurt my eyes

Re: I saw AVATAR in 3D!

Saw it today...Great visuals but everything else is average.Deja-vu concept, movie is too long and way overated.I didnt see anything in it that got me impress..At times it looked like a cross between a Star Wars movie and a Pixar movie. How many times do we have to see the same boring speech delivered by the Hero to lift the spirit of the troops before the end battle.

Anyway the girl I was with thought it was boring too and said the story reminded her too much of the animated movie,Final Fantasy (wich I have never see).

Anyway, Yawn.

Good read, but that guy is a bit late to the party. There's been talk about Avatar's political undertones since before the movie even was released. It's all a bunch of overblown, attention-grabbing hubbub from guilt-ridden critics and bloggers.

That isn't to say that it isn't there, though. In regards to race, this was an article I liked (and posted a while back): https://io9.com/5422666/when-will-white-people-stop-making-movies-like-avatar?skyline=true&s=x
