Ok, sharks, that's an interesting question but taxes is the least of our worries. What’s taxation like in the Netherlands (I think that’s where they’re based)?
2,400 x $1,500 = $3,600,000 USD*
* Not accounting for overhead, R&D, licensing and other expenses.
Awesome answer. The next post was probably going to be a request for a copy of your tax returnsOk, sharks, that's an interesting question but taxes is the least of our worries.
Corporate tax is 26% and another 25-34% for dividend tax in The Netherlands. Add to that supply chain (which is a whopping 70% in our case and unheard of in the business to put 70% back into the product). Then add Warner Bros licensing percantages, our salaries, equipment cost, rent for office and storage, PayPal and credit card fees, accountancy fees, website (build, maintenance and hosting), bank fees, R&D and other overhead and you'll see why no other company in the world is able to make this work. You cannot be in it for the money.
Also, as you can see I did not mention Retail, wholesale and marketing cost, because there is no room for that. Also no exhibition costs like nice big stands on Cons), because we cannot afford it. An average brick and mortar retail store selling collectibles will have a higher gross margin than we do and we do everything from design, to production to sales to supply chain and logistics and aftersales.
I was wondering about that as well, but since we have the most efficient and low cost setup in the industry where an unheard amount goes back into products for the customers, I am happy to open my books. No-one else will.Awesome answer. The next post was probably going to be a request for a copy of your tax returns
Truth be told, your business is just that - your business. We’re all just thankful that you’re in it.
Don’t wait for the payment date would be my suggestion, you can pay little bits multiple times. I sent him $20 bucks like 4x in a single day, it’s the best use of a payment plan system I’ve seen. Instead of waiting till the 4th of every month for instance for the monthly $200 charge, just shoot him some quick cash throughout the month until that month is paid off in advance.Anyone else have issues with the manual monthly SEPA payments. Through the website Stripe takes about a week to process, so I accidentally transfered two payments in one month, because I thought it didn't take the first time.
As this is licensed now I get that Jazzinc is required to have box artwork that will meet DC/WB requirements, but I can't help wondering what additional feature(s) we could have gotten if this just came in a boring cardboard box. No matter how nice the boxes look, 99% of them are still just going to end up in either storage or a landfill lol.
I can’t imagine the cost of a printed box would add much of anything to the actual product. As this is licensed now I get that Jazzinc is required to have box artwork that will meet DC/WB requirements, but I can't help wondering what additional feature(s) we could have gotten if this just came in a boring cardboard box. Yeah probably not and while I agree the box art is cool and very nicely executed, at the end of the day (for me) its "wow" factor will only last for the few seconds it takes to open it and see the actual vehicle. After that it'll quickly go back inside the cardboard shipper and then end up in the rafters of my garage with the boxes for my 3 other 1/6 scale batmobiles. Maybe your situation is different but I don't have the room in my living space for any 4' x 2' x 1.5' boxes. Accommodating the vehicles themselves is challenge enough lol.I can’t imagine the cost of a printed box would add much of anything to the actual product.
But the box to me adds something to the overall “wow” factor of the product inside.
Hey, I'm one of Joost's biggest fans and agree that he's always trying to give us as much as possible for the price (he's obviously not in it for the money), but in this case I don't consider creating box art that he's probably contractually obligated to create as a product "improvement". Plus the box art was always going to be high quality as that's how Joost approaches everything he makes. He now has a reputation for excellence, so continuing to deliver at that level doesn't qualify as an improvement.I appreciate that Joost continues to give back when he doesn’t have to. That money could have easily just been counted as profit and we would have been none the wiser. Instead, it was important to him to do one more improvement.
Thanks @JazzInc !
Yes.How do the “batches” work with JazzInc? If you pay off a preorder in full, is there potential for it to be moved to one of the earlier batches?
This is my first time ordering with them.
