Well, that was unexpected !
234 inches sounds about right. From my own research, the hero cars are about that. I contacted Gotham Cruisers that sells the full-sized body shells for enthusiasts to make their own drivable batmobiles, and they quoted me 235 inches on a wheelbase of around 141 inches. I understand that most of the shells on the market now were cast from the Jay Ohrberg replicas, so they are all 8 inches narrower than the original hero cars. One of the hero cars resides at the Petersen Automotive Museum. It is described as being almost 20 feet long.According to the official Making Of book, the 89 Batmobile is 19ft 6 inches which is 234 inches total. Assuming 19 feet 6 inches is correct, 234 divided by 6 would be 39 inches in length for a true 1/6 scale...which is the length of the Hot Toys version, whereas the Jazz is 43.
I think the Jazz is slightly oversized but has the more accurate shape and proportions. The issue with the Hot Toys version is the rear of the vehicle is too large which makes the front of it look too short. However, it has the correct footprint for a true 1/6 scale.
All that said, I would rather have it be a bit too large but with accurate shapes and proportions.
For most people I think the Hot Toys version gets the job done, and the proportions issue isn't really noticeable if you display it at a slight angle, but credit where credit is due: The Jazz version nailed the shape and proportions of the 89. And many vehicles + figures aren't true 1/6 scale anyhow.
A couple of unboxings on youtube, and the paint apps aren't looking too hot with defects. Also one guy had his covered in dusty grime
What makes it really problematic is the sheer size of the piece, and difficulties/cost involved with shipping. It's not as if an exchange is particularly easy for either party (assuming it's even possible).I agree there are some basic quality control issues slipping through that should not exist with these, particularly when it comes to the weird marks or fingerprints in the paint job....
Those seem pretty trivial in the grand scheme.but a lot of his other issues seem very minor to me, like the added felt, the dust that got in the packaging, and having to attach the bat symbols ourselves (if you don't like 3M tape there's this little thing called super glue).
That's not so trivial. I suppose that's a more easily replaceable part if it comes down to it, so there is that.As for the gun covers, I expect a quick blast with a heat gun should get those sitting flat again.
For sure. I'm sure everyone wants the guy to win, but to be fair these are real issues.Yes I understand these are licensed collectibles, but I also realize that Jazzinc doesn't have near the resources or production budget to make things as perfect as the much bigger companies. And this car was clearly far more challenging to produce than they expected. And no I'm not part of some "Jazzinc cult". Lol
I’m gonna put my name on the waiting list to pick up another one of the preorders the crybabies have canceled. You all cancelled without even seeing the product with your own eyes. Sheesh.
I believe the Tested unboxing video more than some Mr Mom angry rant. The guy obviously has issues with Jazzinc that have nothing to do with this car. He spends too much time overexplaining himself. I think he’s full of ****.
Do I really _need_ a third ‘89 Batmobile? I wasn’t sure until now. I’m not gonna let some twink with a grudge put me off of what is sure to be _the_ collectible of the decade.
Think for yourselves, people.
