JND 1/6 figures next year???:panic:

Also, I thought the likeness for Mera from the front was off when I started the video, but in the shots where they are assembling it the likeness is amazing, I think the lights in the showcase parts are a bit too bright lol

Huh... the profile looks great, but head-on?

Wonder how the 1/6 licensing will work. Will they actually be able to to DC stuff with HT around?

I'm getting both. Though I'm still trying to figure out the perfect way to display them together.

Moducase?

To keep it away from dust and other particles - I'd be paranoid with the silicone in open space.

I take it that you are big Mera and (or) Amber Heard fan if you're shelling out $6+ grand for both.

I have not gone down the rabit hole of the busts yet but I appreciate their beauty from afar.

To be fair, her hair looks like a cheap wig in the movie too. It’s technically accurate in that sense.
We'll agree to disagree

I think the likeness is pretty much perfect though, I have no issues with that

Yeah, usually the licenses are segmented by specific scales.

Perhaps DC will allow both Hot Toys and JND to make 1/6 products but they have to be a different version of the characters (i.e. Justice League Snyder Cut vs. Aquaman) or a separate product category (i.e. articulated "figure" vs. static statue) - I wonder if silicone scales down well to 1/6.

For example, Hot Toys has a TDKR Catwoman on batpod figure but Queen is making their own version in 1/6 statue form (and 1/3).

Another example is the Stallone Shop has the exclusive Rambo 1 figure with the green jacket (from earlier in First Blood) but Threezero is allowed to make the tank top/poncho version (from later in the movie).

Or for TMNT, NECA produces the 1987 Animated line and Super 7 produces the Playmates inspired line.

Sounds like they'll be doing 1/6 action figures from Warner Bros properties. Finally, someone who will give HT a run for their money.
First up...

I AM IN FOR 1/6!!!!!!!!!!
As someone who has a custom 1/6 figure with silicone and glass eyes, I thought this was the next evolution for Hot Toys.
But it feels like they've plateaued as sometimes it seems like even 3rd party companies are catching up to their quality.

JND is on another level and I've always hoped to someday get one of their figures.
Looks like that wish will come to fruition.

Great to hear JND will be producing 1/6 figures. I wonder if they managed to pry DC from Hot Toys or if it will be different licenses. Also, if they are planning to raise the hyperrealism and quality bar with things like silicone bodies, glass eyes, and punched hair, it could mean a premium 1/6 figure category with figures selling for $500+. If so, I do think there's a potential market for it. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I just hope it doesn't detract from their 1/3 line. I want to see them take on the full ZSJL in '23.

Totally agree! Such awesome news, I thought there was no chance of JND 1/6 figures, they might've just destroyed what little interest I had left in Hot Toys lol

Well, f the actress but this piece, as always, is stunning! Absolutely blown away again, and with the news of different scales.

Might need to sell all my Hot Toys to get more of these. Hot Toys really don't do for me what getting these or anticipating does. The hype, the journey to release with their videos, and then receiving the most realistic collectibles I've ever seen, hats off to JND, tippity top of the best.

I do wonder if HT will lose the license to JND? Maybe WB sees that HT is pretty much only doing Marvel/SW/Disney and is seeing their properties get the short end of the 1/6 stick? Either way, excited to see what the first release will be

I wonder if JND entering the 1/6 market will shake HT out of their complacency. They've been fat and happy for years. I don't think DC figures sell nearly as well as Marvel, but they might sell better than non-Mandalorian Star Wars.
Maybe Hot Toys will go after 1/3 scale Marvel and Star Wars.

I think the licensing is not an issue cause Hot toys makes poseable figures while JND are statues.
Could come down to wording. I mean they did say 1/6 figures and didn’t say statues. So they either meant statues and said figures thinking the words were interchangeable? Or they will be making competing poseable figures from WB properties. I mean Kojun was one of Hot Toys’ early and top sculptors for a long while, so he’s no stranger to 1/6 figures. I think DX06 Jack Sparrow was his last sculpts for Hot Toys but I could be wrong.
