I think this looks freaking awesome!
I never read any of the books and I'm not familiar with the characters, but I'll definitely be seeing this!
Hopefully this is good, because it certainly looks awesome!

I think the marketing for this film has been awful. A shame because there are talented people on this film (Andrew Stanton is one of Pixar's best writers/directors). I want to be excited for this movie but I haven't been able to.

Here's yet another craptastic movie poster. Not exactly epic looking. Dejah Torres is waaayyyyy in the back where you need to squint to see her. Who made that decision?

I can't wait until someone realizes half an hour of Photoshop does not make a good movie poster.

I'm pretty excited for this movie. I think it will be a relative flop but I think it will be a good movie, like Tron Legacy.

I am impressed with the faithfulness to the book. It would have been very easy to give the tharks' horses (can't recall what they are called) and Woola 4 legs, but they seem to be going the extra mile on details which I think will mean a faithful in other aspects.

I do think they are underselling this though. If I was Disney I'd be putting out a lot of press about how it took 100 years for the film industry to catch up to the imagination and scale of the story. And really putting it out there as a franchise rather than a one off film with hope fun sequels. Really this could be the next big franchise if they did it right.

I agree, it will likely flop because people are writing it off as a clone of many movies that were in fact inspired by Burroughs. It is understandable though since much of the imagery in the trailers has been seen a dozen times. Still it's a little depressing to read online commentary that bashes the film because it's ripping off Avatar and Star Wars. But I think it could be a better movie than most of it's bastard children.

They are fun stories that deserve to be put on film.

This is definitely a movie I'm looking forward to a lot! It looks awesome!
I too think this might not be a big hit, but who knows.
I for one will definitely be there to see this!

If it's going to be a flop, effects wise, it's because Avatar already did all this stuff and better. When I saw this trailer, I saw a movie, trying to bring the next big thing, like Avatar, but came off as a cheap lower budget imposter.
And despite the fact that this story was here long before the stuff it inspired, the fact is that stuff does exist, so this will now feel old, and most will see it that way, if they don't know the roots.

I am devouring the first few books. I am very pleased with the story and the quality of the writing. Especally fun read out loud to my wife. Lots of cool adjectives and stuff.

I've seen a few more commercials lately myself. I've already got my IMAX ticket purchased. I really think this movie is gonna be good and surprise a lot of people.

The recent trailers are really down playing the story and just focuses on the action. The original trailer hinted at the deeper story which I think will help the movie overall.
