FANTASTIC movie.
How bad this movie is doing really makes me feel bad for all the uneducated poops who shell out money for crap created by people like bay.

I was expecting this to flop since the budget was so high, but biggest flop in history? :( Yeesh.

Interesting article, but what happened to "Waterworld"? I thought that was the biggest flop ever back in the day. Weren't they all saying that Titanic would be the next 'Waterworld' before it opened? And what about "I___ar"? I remember that being the biggest flop before "Waterworld". I guess I'm way behind on my flops.

I had someone told me they thought it was a Terminator movie because the title was "John Carter" the kid from the Terminator movies.

Someone else said they thought it was about a rapper whose real name is "John Carter" and all they saw was the silhouette against the red poster.

It just sucks that all the promo this movie is getting now is that its a flop. All i keep hearing is "Disneys losing 200 mill" and im just over it.

This movie was awesome, i feel like its going to have a huge cult following. Hopefully it does well on the dvd sales AND worldwide. It seems like critics look at the huge budget and want to flop it.

All i know is ill be buying John Carter on Blu Ray.

It was a great movie, but I don't see where the 200 mil went. The CGI wasn't 'Avatar' good and there were no big actors in it. Still, Disney could've had a new, successful, franchise on their hands, but they shot themselves in the foot with internal politics and awful marketing. At least put the Pixar name somewhere in the ads or title, that alone would've netted them another $100 mil probably.

Burroughs and the novels should have been shoved in everybody's face for the past 6 months if disney did it right...:gah:...I'm just hoping that Bluray has lots of extras...even about Burroughs life...

I've been saying this for years but movies with people's names as the title are fracking dumb unless its obvious like "George Washington" or something. :slap "Paul" for example. Is it about the disciple? A Beatle? Who? Oh an alien...it makes perfect sense!

The decision to not have "Mars" in the title was as dumb as can be and they did it for dramatic effect for the freaking end credits?

I liked this movie, pity we will not get a sequel.

You never know...Get the world back into the novels...this would have a chance then...People will see the DVD and go WOW...I shoulda went to the movies...Hunger games, LOTR,Harry Potter,Twilight...All books read first with a following ...it helped alot in regards to ticket and DVD sales...

No, they did it because "Mars Needs Moms" and "Mission to Mars" both bombed for Disney. So the braintrust assumed anything with "Mars" in the title would result in poor boxoffice.

Yes, that's the actual thinking that went on.

DVD is where this will rock...I hope there is a 4 hour uncut version with 6 more hours of extras...

Ironic that they made that choice and is still bombed.

Every place I've went online that has public reviews on this movie have given it 4+ stars and have said how great it was. It's too bad that Hunger Games will suck this right out of the theaters now.
