I have to say that the marketing for this film could be better. The trailer wasn't bad, certainly got me interested, but as far as other marketing goes, there was pretty much none of it over here. Whereas big movies like these usually get the full treatment in my local theatre, with multiple (character)posters, cardboard standing character things and whatnot, this just had 1 poster.

It sucks that there probably won't be a sequel because I would love to see more adventures of John Carter, Dejah Thoris and Tars Tarkas on Barsoom (see, it isn't hard to learn these names if you pay attention).

Like The Josh mentioned as well, I too didn't mind the length of this movie and was immediately interested in what other adventures he might have on Mars!

Here's hoping for a sequel!

But you didn't like the movie why do you care?

It's called a discussion. And I can discuss.

Do I care? Maybe. If they get a different director, if they up the ante on the script, if they get better character development....

And all those names are ____ed. Tarks was easy, but then he kept saying Darkoon, or something, and then the other guy used that, and what the hell. I hate lingo like that.

The only time I dug it was in Skyrim, because everything that big ol dragon was telling me, was some really powerful deep stuff there. In between his goofy lingo.

I honestly could not remember the names so I made them up. Actually I do remember Mars was called Baradoon, or something like that?

Its funny that a guy with a Hobbit avatar and sig is talking this way about a story he'd never read and had only seen the movie. There are a lot of dumb____s out there who say the same thing about the LOTR films.

"Grimy son of Groin" and "Grampa the gray."

Like LOTR is any different if you are clueless about the source material.

If you don't have any clue where they would take the sequels I suggest you put your brain in gear and realize they actually have a huge series of books to draw on.

And Predator fans have no basis for talking about character development. That's just retarded.

LOL. Predator isn't a character development movie. But that movie has more goddamn character then this one.

At least I could remember who was who, and who's personality was what.

:lol

That would be awesome. I thought the world was pretty awesome and the characters easy to get into. Let's see what else is going on in this world and how these preist type characters will keep trying to attack John Carter.

Excited excited excited!!! :panic: :)

They should've done more with them. They were kinda interesting God like characters. I would've liked to see more.

Well yeah. :lol

Kept me awake. :lol

And I never said, at all, this was a BAD movie. It isn't. It just wasn't interesting to me. But i'm still going to discuss it, because there isn't any rule saying I can't/.

But from a newbie stand point to the series, they were really interesting. I liked the way moved in and out of disguises. And I like that they traveled to different planets, and all that.

I would have like to see less, considering they are introduced in the second novel, not the first.

They were a nice addition though IMO. Made me eager to know more on them and so they will be something I'd look forward to in part 2 if it happens.

Yeah, but they could have been introduced only at the end as an unexpected alliance with Sab Than rather than the main bad guy. That would have teased for a sequel rather making it seem like the next movie would be a rehash of the first with the same main villian.

If they were to make the movies exactly like the novels then they would have to make 11 movies! So personally I don't mind them squeezing in 11 novels into lets say 3 or 4 movies.

I didn't realize there was that many novels to the series. Yeah, you're gonna have to squeeze some things into just a few movies.
