Re: New Judge Dredd movie
He should be proud. He owned that role.

Given that I haven't ever enjoyed a movie as much as I enjoyed TDKR, I will take that with a sack of salt
Proof Nolancompoops like sack.
Saw this today. It is a good movie, not great. It's somewhat a missed potential with this movie. They show us this big sprawling world in the beginning and then had the rest of the movie confine in an apartment block that doesn't even feel like it's 200 floors. They really should have done a lot more with the world they show us.
I
They had 46 Million bucks to spend. I think they spent it well. Kept the story tight, production value's high, and didn't over do it.
I guess that is the problem with this movie. It is really only for fans. That is a sure ticket to box office failure.
I honestly do not know anything about Dredd other than what I read on wiki and that Stallone movie. After watching this movie, I still don't know anything about Dredd.
We just don't get invested in the character and his motivation. I mean sure, the city is horrible but then again I live in a third world country and it's nothing weird to me. Maybe it is really horrifying to you first world guys but over here is South East Asia, it's not much better.

I know the same amount you do. But what else do you need to know about Dredd? He exists to dispatch justice. That's his purpose. His quest. And he will do it.
I have never read a single Judge Dredd comic book in my life. I only know Stallone played him in that silly movie. It's not just for the fans.
I honestly like the movie but I can also see why it failed. It's a sad fact of filmmaking but to make money, it has to be commercial. One could say Dredd is just not commercial enough.
The Raid features unknowns also and pretty much has zero plot but it also has a much lower budget and non-stop action.
Honestly, if Dredd has more action, it would do so much better.
Sure, not everyone watches movies for the action but a large part of moviegoers do.
That's why the RE movies are making loads of money. Story wise, it is probably thinner than Dredd but it delivers action in spades.
Like I said, a missed opportunity with this. Budget is a factor but then again it is not how much you have but what you do with how much you have.
I am sure Robert Rodriquez could deliver a really action pack movie for half the budget for Dredd.
Huh, there was a ton of action in Dredd!
Plus great atmosphere, tension and baddies that were worth hating, when all combined it delivered a fun and thrilling movie.
It didn't overdue or bloat the action like some other movies are guilty of doing.
The Raid, while having impressive MA, quickly became redundant with fights lasting way too long to be taken seriously.
Resident Evil and Rodriguez Movies have got nothing on Dredd.
Every penny of their budget was up on the screen for me.
Hell, 2.5 billion dollar Avatar has got nothing on Dredd.
