Funny you should say that. There was no 1/3 scale T-Rex ever created at SWS from what I have read. It's either smaller scale, 1/5 scale or life size. The pics in the books are pretty, arn't they.:D

The pictures in the books are nothing compared to the glut of information and effort that went into production of the SWS creatures, the JP dinosaurs in particular. The range of maquettes produced was quite wide, though it's sensible to misconstrue that many T.rex maquettes were in 1/5 scale, being that most of the busts released were based on a 1/5 maquette of the TLW male (these are frequently sold on Ebay to collectors who have them professionally painted and mounted... Gruson has one in his collection, though it's painted in the fashion of the JP female. It was notably difficult to tell the scale of the maquette you posted, being one I'm not familiar with (the ones in the Making of books and I believe the SWS book as well - though I don't have it here with me for reference - don't have that problem with the jaw or the eye). Again, I would LOVE to get one of those magnificent maquettes in all their glory depicting the T.rex as envisaged in the films. However, I have yet to see a high-end collectible that approximates that adequately, aside from the Horizon model kit and the SS Diorama, which I will continue to contend is stunningly accurate, particularly considering its scale. If you differ in that regard that's fine, it's just a matter of personal preference I suppose . At least you think it's a cool piece! :D

I was gonna cancel this about a week ago but after seeing Jurassic park again on tv today its actually got me really hyped about it.
So if your feeling low about movie collectibles simply watch the movies , it always works for me :lol :rock

Yeah, Jeff sold his due to the fact that it's a male T-Rex from TLW with female's scheme which was a inaccurate presentation. AMAZING piece though!

Same here, I'd love to see some beautifully done maquettes someday. Before that.

Don't forget to post some pics when ya got the piece.

Here're some pics my stuff.

Quite a collection you have there. I can't even imagine how much those pieces and the JAWS bust set you back alone, the bronze T.rex being one that I've admittedly sought after for some time, along with the bronze Velociraptor. Very nice! I personally wouldn't trade either of those T.rex pieces for the above maquette, but that's just me. :D

How easy it is to find one of those busts today? At what price?

Thanks. Of course I wouldn't trade those 2 pieces, it was just a figure of speech. To have a 1/5 scale full size JP T-Rex is better the a bust and a bronze though.

It was a custom made piece so currently there's nothing like this on the market for sale. It's priceless. :D

Yes, either of those two maquettes would be vastly preferable, particularly the first one which has the characteristic cleaner color palette. I also have to echo what was said of the Bruce bust. Quite magnificent.

Is that T-Rex Gruson's old bust??? To think, he gave me the oporitunity to buy it around a year ago.. Wish I would have.

Nope, this is a different one. Here're some pics of the one he had. Which should be a green toned male T-Rex

Yeah, can't wait for JP in HD. Hopefully with more behind the stuff.
