Funny you should say that. There was no 1/3 scale T-Rex ever created at SWS from what I have read. It's either smaller scale, 1/5 scale or life size. The pics in the books are pretty, arn't they.
The pictures in the books are nothing compared to the glut of information and effort that went into production of the SWS creatures, the JP dinosaurs in particular. The range of maquettes produced was quite wide, though it's sensible to misconstrue that many T.rex maquettes were in 1/5 scale, being that most of the busts released were based on a 1/5 maquette of the TLW male (these are frequently sold on Ebay to collectors who have them professionally painted and mounted... Gruson has one in his collection, though it's painted in the fashion of the JP female. It was notably difficult to tell the scale of the maquette you posted, being one I'm not familiar with (the ones in the Making of books and I believe the SWS book as well - though I don't have it here with me for reference - don't have that problem with the jaw or the eye). Again, I would LOVE to get one of those magnificent maquettes in all their glory depicting the T.rex as envisaged in the films. However, I have yet to see a high-end collectible that approximates that adequately, aside from the Horizon model kit and the SS Diorama, which I will continue to contend is stunningly accurate, particularly considering its scale. If you differ in that regard that's fine, it's just a matter of personal preference I suppose . At least you think it's a cool piece!
