No that I'm looking at this poster, it seems worse. I loved the Dino-only poster. But this one makes no sense. Why would she have her back turned to the dino and why are they looking away from it? Poster would be better if they were huddled in fear or reacting to the dino.

That being said, looking forward to the movie!

I agree with maulfan could care less about how or why I just love seeing dinosaurs on the big screen. Don’t care if it’s cg or animatronic. Love watching dinosaurs. They always fascinated me as a kid. Loved all the movies and some parts of JP 3 . Lost world is ok imo. I can never get tired of dinosaurs so bring em on. The review on ign has me excited

Bad posters aren't exclusive to this movie, it's an industry problem these days - bad posters. Can't think of a recent movie poster that I'd consider really good. Might be missing an obvious one but all posters seem to be cut and paste bad Photoshop jobs these days.

There's many laughable posters, even now. I hope this is more dino-heavy and less people. I'm tired of kids being the center of these movies so here's to hoping we finally get a different tone.

oh boy... if the rumors are true you will be disappointed

I'm mostly staying in the dark for this one. I'm watching it for a charity screening in 4 hours. :)

Fallen Kingdom isn't as impressive as its classic predecessors - The Guardian (2/5)
“There are some reasonably entertaining scenes and set pieces, but the whole concept feels tired and contrived, and crucially the dinosaurs themselves are starting to look samey, without inspiring much of the awe or terror they used to. It could be that a meteor of tedium is heading towards these CGI creatures, despatching them to extinction.”

Fallen Kingdom chooses to get all political - Variety
“Yes, it’s the first cautionary dinosaur-trafficking movie — and at certain points you may find yourself ticking off the themes. Greed gone rampant among the globalized gilded class? Check. The sinister potential of genetic engineering? Check. The need to protect endangered species? Check. The privatizing of military action? Check. The eerie implications of cloning? Check. The danger of weaponized dinosaurs? Check.

I didn’t find any of this stuff especially “fun,” though the cast members certainly treat the political/genetic/social fodder as if it meant something.”

Fallen Kingdom treads old ground - AV Club (Grade: B-)
"These movies often literally retread the same ground as their predecessors, encountering layers of detritus from those other movies in the process. (The original Jurassic Park cars are briefly rediscovered here, just as they were last time around.) The thematic work of Fallen Kingdom is scribbly and half-finished, a series of dopey riffs on what came before about humans living with the consequences of their scientific meddling."

Is Fallen Kingdom better than Jurassic World? - AP
"Here’s the good news: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is more fun than Jurassic World. It’s not exactly a high bar, but still a welcome surprise. In the hands of a new director, J.A. Bayona, with Chris Pratt’s high-wattage charisma on full blast and a fair amount of self-aware humor intact, there are certainly worse ways to spend a couple hours in the air-conditioned multiplex this summer."

So, about Bryce Dallas Howard's character, Claire... - THR
"While the movie courses seamlessly through different modes, it remains old-fashioned in its treatment of Howard's character, who mostly screams and runs while Owen gets things done. Claire has grown up a lot since her debut as Jurassic World's soulless corporate climber, but she remains a damsel in distress who (this time, as last) gets to perform a single far-fetched heroic feat when things are at their most dire."

I can say I liked the first half, but the second half was rather contrived. My son enjoyed it though, so it was worth it. :D

how much dino action ?

More than 50:50

If you include dinos being hauled in cages, then a substantial part of the movie is dino stuff. About 1/3 of it was on the original island, another 1/3 was hauling dinos in cages and another 1/3 was the final act/setpiece.

I'm trying to recall how much dino action there was in the first JW. This probably has more dino stuff.

It depends on what you constitute as dino action.

The first 1/3 of the movie is mostly seeing various dinos around the park and taking in the experience, a few teaser shots of the Indominous and mainly the sequence with the raptors and own. The middle 3rd is limited to Indominous and the flying dinosaurs with a quick Mossasaurus shot, the best action came out the end with Raptors, Rexy and the Indominous. There was a progression, but if you think about it, the main dinosaur action in the original didn't come until almost halfway into the movie, much like JAWS.

So while I didn't really like JW1, this is a far, far better film IMO and something I actually enjoyed a lot. It's like a mix of the best parts from Lost World and the original if I could describe it.

One scene is just pure heartbreaking and caught me off guard, had a massive lump in my throat and everything. **** them for pulling that. :(

I would say it's probably second best film in the franchise arguably, though there is still a giant gap between this and the original masterpiece. But it has a thumbs up from me.

Initial reaction is that I liked the movie.

The opening scene is the best in the franchise. And finally it rains again!!! :rock

The first act of the movie was my favourite, mainly because I like seeing dinosaurs against a wild backdrop. The eruption scene definitely pulls on the heart strings, seeing all the dinosaurs fall to their deaths (as you see in the trailer). As they leave the island there's a tear-jerker moment, especially if you're a big fan of the original (I can expand on that via spoilers later on if needed).

The second act had some fun moments too and made great use of the animatronic dinosaurs which elevates the scenes over the CGI stuff.

The third act, well it gets political and goes into complete 'new' territory (hinted at in past movies) for a Jurassic movie. I will definitely need to rewatch it to learn to accept as part of this Jurassic universe.

Some of the imagery in the final act is incredible and there's a some really nice touches to Jurassic Park.

Overall I really enjoyed it. Some cool dinosaur scenes throughout although maybe could have done with some more between the second and third act. I enjoyed BDH and Pratt much more in this one.

And lastly there's a post credits scene...
