it's like when resident evil ended all civilizations in the third movie. you have nowhere else to go.
even the quiet place sequel started getting stale.
so did the walking dead. so did planet of the apes. it starts to get stale and dull.
( unless is like fallout where societies just move underground)
Exactly. And that's my issue with JP. The human element was every bit as interesting as the dino's, originally. Now it's pew-pew, bang-bang! Kill it!!!

Now what?

Interestingly enough, the formula they're using for JP is what I'd like to see used in the Monsterverse. I don't care about the humans in that film and I absolutely never will. The irony is not lost on me there. Minus One was amazing. But you can forget about Hollywood pulling that off.

Yes, totally agree with this.
So much of the Jurassic fandom seem to only care about what dinosaurs are in the movie, how much cool stuff they do, how many they kill etc etc.
They cream themselves with excitement because whateverwhocaresasaurus is in it.
The series has devolved into monster movies. Mindless slop monster movies.
These movies might as well be directed by Paul W S Anderson. And star his admittedly lovely but can't act for ****, wife.

They just needed to do what the hell they have been building up towards for years and have the dinosaurs take over the humans. Instead they gave us these ******* bugs. It's like the terminator movies always building up towards the war and the movies never have a war in it. Same old thing. Chase a person throughtout the movie plot. Salvation tried it though. Anyway yea they should just switch it up.

Those movies were barely resident evil. Had they followed the games and the lore they would have made better movies but the guy made those films to tug it to his wife. Honestly I don't blame him becuase it seems that no body knows how to make RE live action content even if they try to make it close to the games. That last movie was worse than any of those Anderson films.

And walking dead? Psh. I can't believe that is still going. I can't believe like somewhere in the year 2012-2014 the world was enamored with that series so heavily and now it is barely talked about. What a repetative slog of a show that goes through the same exact crap over and over again. Glad that fad is over.

Keeping up with the viral marketing campaign as seen from the past three movies, the Dino Tracker website is now showing errors and unknown statuses for the different dinosaurs. Obviously, this is to tie-in with Rebirth and how the earth's environment has been mostly inhospitable to the dinosaurs and they're dying off as a result.

There was also a short trailer shown during the Super Bowl. Other than a couple of new shots, it's just the same footage we saw in the trailer last week.

With all the talk about the hybrid mutant dino in this one, wasn't there some rumor of a cross between humans and dinos several years back? I recall seeing some drawings and what not. Or am I referring to something else? I can't remember entirely.

When Jurassic Park came out they tried to create the most accurate dinosaurs. Sure things changed for today but at the time they were accurate and were based on the paleontologist studies. They helped to create their look in the movie. These explanations just pure BS by the sequels.

Well, except for the whole Velociraptor thing. Even back then we knew that they were nowhere as big as a Deinonychus or a Utahraptor.

There was indeed. An early concept for Jurassic Park 4 had human-dinosaur hybrids. See a post of mine from back in December to witness the horror for yourself:

You are correct. I should've expanded on what I said a bit more. What I was trying to say is that I wouldn't take the rumors of a mutant dino to heart as there have been rumors in the past that took fire and felt like a sure thing, but ended up amounting to absolutely nothing. The rumors about the Spinosaurus appearing in JWD were everywhere and I was even starting to believe it. But nope, no Spino. Not even a mention of it.

Now all that said, yes, I wouldn't be too shocked if there is some sort of mutant dino or human-dino hybrid. It's an idea that's been floating around at Universal for over 20 years. They even made it the focus of the 2002 Halloween Horror Nights at Islands of Adventure, and I'm sure everyone remembers these concepts from an early draft of JP4, way back around 2004:

Like ugh, I can't even

I think my biggest fear for Rebirth is that it ends up being a somewhat decent and entertaining movie for the most part, perhaps even leaps and bounds ahead of the past three, but then suddenly a subplot involving a mutant dino slaps us all in the face and completely ruins the movie.

^ Guess I was wrong about not taking the mutant dino rumors to heart :slap:lol

Well, except for the whole Velociraptor thing. Even back then we knew that they were nowhere as big as a Deinonychus or a Utahraptor.

Interesting thing about the Utahraptor, it wasn't described and named until June 1993. Makes you wonder if Utahraptor had been properly identified a decade earlier, if it would've taken the place of Velociraptor in the novels and movies. I'm positive I read somewhere that Crichton thought Velociraptor sounded cooler, so he still may have gone with it regardless, but it is something to think about it.

As I recall, at the time Crichton was researching for the book in the 80's, there was debate around the relation between Deinonychus and Velociraptor, whether they were truly separate species etc.
I think I'm in saying that the dinosaurs in JP1 are Deinonychus but yes, I'm pretty sure you're right, Crichton just thought Velociraptor sounded cooler.
I also agree, if Utahraptor had been described and named before he wrote his book, it would have been Utahraptor in JP. Probably still called Velociraptor though I guess.

Agreed, there's not much cool about Utah :p

I keed, I keed.

Man, I totally forgot about that Battle at Big Rock short... that's legit better then the last 3 movies, I was fully engaged watching that. I'd totally be onboard.

I rewatched both Battle at Big Rock and the JWD Prologue this evening and it blows my mind how Trevorrow and company could come up with such great short stories, perfectly capturing how most of us would imagine co-existing with dinosaurs, and then go on to make JWD :poop: They already had the formula to success but chose to set it aside and go with a plot involving locusts eating crops.

And now with Rebirth, Universal is completely walking away from the plot of dinosaurs on the mainland. So many potential stories wasted. Absolute shame.
